Huge leisure centre with multiple facilities and pools. Excellent for large events. Cafe opening hours do not match le8sure centre hours though, and that can be an issue and disappointment for early starying events.

Good temperature for swimming in the main pool, the second pool is warmer. Unfortunately the main pools floor has been raised to 1.1 metres. Which is too shallow for a comfortable session. But it’s H&S for persons of all ages who may not be able to swim. Only once have I swum with the floor lowered to 1.80 meters, which was great. It must have been after a regional swim meet. The changing and showering areas are good. GL1 have emailed me to let me know that the pool floor raise/lower mechanism has been fixed. There are two 25 metre pools here (1 competition where the floor can be lowered to about 1.80 and a more enclosed with no windows, warm-up pool) plus a kiddies pool.

Really Sad to put this review as I loved this place and always promoted it. I forgot to take my child for her first swimming lesson as we had come from a long journey a night before. I phoned to ask if she could do a whole new one next week. Happy to pay extra to cover a day. I was told it's not allowed unless she was ill or something. If I had known about this I would have lied but I was being honest and was treated badly.

Visited my school in June 2024. It was a good afternoon out for me, and the swim teaching was good. The children enjoyed it and the facilities on the whole were good. Like most large buildings, it needs a bit of work, but this is always the case for leisure complexes, especially when they are over 20 years old. Good position for locals and people visiting.

Attended the European Kempo championships here recently. It's a great venue, with great facilities and the centre was clean and well serviced. Just one little, little thing was it would have been great if the cafes were at full operation levels as it have a profitable spell for the centre. We had to go and get drinks and food so think they missed a trick. GREAT PLACE

Excellent facilities for swimming. My kid took her swimming classes here. Well maintained changing room and showers too. But the membership payments was maintained by DFC and for any changes you have to speak to Aspire and then DFC which was really irritating but otherwise I very much recommend GL1 Aspire.

We use GL1 to play our Activities Bubble Football , Archery tag and Nerf Wars and can only speak highly of the staff and centre easy to book, clean and great access. Keep up the great work. Excel Activity Group
