So it’s taken me a year to post this because our cat was so poorly after staying at glenbrittle in Aug 2024. We booked glenbrittle because we’d left it too late for our usual cattery which we’d used with no problems for 8 years. Sophie came home smelly, 600g weight loss, vomitting and with diarrhoea and was unwell for weeks. To the point we were testing for cancer. It turns out she had a parasite in her tummy that she’d picked up from the cattery. I should have gone with my gut instinct when I saw a few reviews about glenbrittle and the cocky attitude of the male member of staff. That same member of staff told me when we collected her that she’d ate everything, been well and had also played in the little central playtime area. She’s not one for playing and she’s a rescue, very nervous around new people so I knew that was a lie. I rang up a few times from holiday and was laughed at when I asked how she was ‘she’s fine and eating’ with a giggle. When I rang them 10 days after collecting her to enquire again how she’d been as she was so unwell I was told by a female member of staff that there was a log of her eating and she’d left most of her food. So there was another lie, as she’d not eaten. She’s been back to her usual cattery this year and has come home healthy and happy and actually looks like she may have gained a little holiday weight! I would not touch Glenbrittle with a barge pole.

Our dog has recently started staying here after our previous kennels shut down and he seems extremely happy with his new kennels.

Another great hydrotherapy session for my border collie jac. His age related joint issues are easing with every session. Helpful and friendly staff really put your dog at ease.

We have used these kennels for many years. Our dog spent the last days of her life here and the care she received was absolutely amazing. The staff go well above what is expected and we can't thank them enough. If you want to know you are leaving your pet with carers who love them as much as you do, look no further than Glenbrittle.

Wife and I took our dog for Andy from Paws in Nature to assess and guide us in handling our very nervous pet. He is so knowledgeable and helpful, it was a pleasure being told we had made a few mistakes and how to go about correcting them.

Absolutely appalled at the state our dog came back in, if I could give no stars I would have. We have taken her to Glennbrittle a few times, the first time she came back with sticky matted fur where she had been lying down and we figured this was simply due to her lying on the floor (as she does at home) where a lot of other dogs had been. The following few times she came back with sticky fur and stinky of stale urine. The smell was so bad we had to bath her straight away. She comes back starving although we provide her with more than enough food... but we are sceptical on how much of this she gets. She was in for one night and we supplied a whole pack of treats. The bag was empty the next day but it's doubtful she had any of them based on how hungry she was. We ask for pictures as they promise to keep owners updated but we have never received a single one of her. More recently we picked her up and she reeked of a very cheap perfume/air freshener... so now they have tried to cover up the smell! They had clearly put so much air freshener on her we could taste it in our mouths and couldn't breath in the car on the way home. On top of all of this she's now incredibly sick, cannot keep water or food down and we suspect it's due to her licking herself covered in this air freshener. We found a Liverpool Echo article for 2019 covering when Glenbrittle closed down after an inspection... clearly they haven't learnt anything and still aren't treating the animals with any type of respect. We also once saw a lady comment about the state of her dog on a post they shared on Facebook... and Glenbrittle deleted it! DO NOT USE THESE KENNELS UNLESS YOU DON'T CARE FOR YOUR PET

My dog came home stinking of perfume and shaking, his tail was between his legs for over a week. He also had very bad diarrhea. I told them to make sure he had a certain food but guess not. I even rang to complain, they put the phone down. Never again. Use 5 Oaks now and max loves it there. Never an issue. You can see the kennels and pick them up from the kennels. He is so happy. ADDITIONAL INFO.... I HAVE BEEN HERE YOU SAY THIS TO ALL THE CUSTOMERS WHOSE DOGS YOU NEARLY KILL. OH AND LOOK FOR MAX NUTTALL AND TELL ME I HAVENT HAD MY DOG WITH YOU..

We booked our three dogs in here for a week whilst we went away. It was the worst experience we have ever had. Every time we called to check on them we were met with ‘yes they’re fine’, nothing more. We tried messaging them a couple of times When we picked them up, it was like they didn’t know us. We can only imagine how they were treated to be so traumatised. They had lost loads of weight and they’re already tiny dogs. They weren’t eating and we’re really lethargic, they all had coughs and bunged up noses. We took them the vet who said they all had high temperatures and they were dehydrated. They had a bacterial infection and had to be put on antibiotics. Two of the dogs seem to have perked up after the antibiotics but the third and smallest had to go back to the vet and given antibiotics intravenously as she weren’t eating at all. We did read reviews before putting them there and in the face of it they looked great. It’s only after doing a more in depth search we have seen how bad this place is. We’re absolutely gutted we left our dogs here and will be reporting them ti the RSPCA (again). This place needs closing down.

Hi my dog Rosie seemed to have enjoyed her short stay of 8 days at the Kennels. She came home happy and content with no issues. We are happy to recommend these kennels to other dog owners. We asked for photos to check her progress and they were happy to provide these. It was a relief to see her playing with her ball happy as anything :))

We have used Glenbrittle kennels now for more than 10 years. During numerous stays of various pets past and present.I can honestly say that we have never had any problems or issues with service, costings or animal issues. We have always found the staff to be extremely polite and focussed on the animals. We currently have a dog that is what could be referred to has “ high maintenance” and as a result we can not take her away with us. Glenbrittle always welcome her with open arms and look forward to her stays with them. We have recently had our cats in too. We have experienced the same level of excellent service and rest assured while we are away that our animals are receiving the greatest of care Thank you all for your continued fabulous service....
