   A Truly Amazing Dining Experience! Great quality food, warm service, and a comfortable atmosphere come together seamlessly At GEM42, this harmony is delivered with elegance and without unnecessary showmanship. What you get is authentic cuisine, excellent ingredients, and hospitality that genuinely stands out. We had the ten course surprise tasting menu, and each dish had a clean and beautifully balanced flavours, attentive and friendly service, and an environment that is both refined and relaxing.the wine pairing was also very very good and the sommelier who introduced each of the wine he served was also very knowledgeable. We began with a beautifully crafted cocktail which were the barman signature cocktail that immediately set the tone: for the amuse bouche that were served straight after. From that moment on, every dish confirmed the same level of craftsmanship and respect for quality produce. We ended up going “the whole nine yards “ from the opening cocktail to the final digestif, completely unironically proof that when you feel comfortable and well taken care of, it’s easy to just enjoy the experience.Very much deserving a Michelin star or two. Coming back very soon.

   My husband and I have been twice now, and it's been incredible both times. The most amazing food! It's like art and delicious! The drinks menu is extensive: wine, cocktails, spirits and kombucha. The service is phenomenal. The chef literally brings you each course, explaining what you're having. They accommodated a wheat intolerance amazingly well. Fantastic experience! I honestly think they deserve a Michelin star.

   By far the best afternoon tea we have ever had! From the moment we arrived, the setting exuded luxury, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. They were not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable, which added so much to the overall experience. The seating is thoughtfully arranged to give you plenty of space to relax and savour each moment — and trust me, you’ll want to enjoy every second. This isn’t your typical afternoon tea. It’s an experience. The chef presents each element as a separate course, each one crafted with meticulous attention to detail. You can truly taste the care and thought that has gone into every bite. A palate cleanser that was nothing short of extraordinary sets the tone for what’s to come — an array of sandwiches and desserts that are true works of art. The flavours, textures, and presentation are all simply outstanding. Beyond the food, the entire experience is seamless. The passion of the team, particularly their Italian heritage, shines through in every aspect and gives Gem 42 a sense of authenticity that’s rare to find. What amazed us most was the value — the level of service and quality of food far exceeds the price. Simply outstanding. We were so impressed, we booked our next visit before even leaving.

   I would rate this one of my favourite restaurants in Welsh. We have been to a few Michelin star restaurants and I feel the food from Gem 42 is even better than some of them. I had winter menu six courses and I can say it worth every penny. What I see in the food is a good mix of tradition and creativity. I can feel the influence and love in the chef’s heart from Italian, French, Japanese and also Wales food. Instead of perusing only the most expensive ingredients, this restaurant values the importance of freshness, the nature and balance of different food. There is definitely room to improve, but we enjoy our food journey with them on a Friday night. And great service from all the staffs and chefs from Gem 42. Thank you.

   I’m shocked Gem 42 doesn’t have a Michelin star??? We wanted somewhere special to celebrate our daughter’s 20 birthday and boy did we get it! Top class ingredients, creative menu, stylish is interior and all presented with class and panache without being pretentious. I couldn’t recommend this place more highly to make your occasion something extra special.

   Gem 42 in Newport is AMAZING! The food is out of this world. You must go if you are in the area. If you are not in the area then you must make the effort to get here. The restaurant is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The food is cleverly and creatively presented on a range of different plates, bowls and porcelain dishes - very entertaining. The staff are excellent and the chef explained every morsel in detail. The whole evening was an incredible and delicious theatrical event. Highly recommend!
