We held a wake here recently but sadly, a lot of food, which was plentiful, was not eaten despite it being very good. The staff were very helpful, even providing something for a guest who was intolerant to certain foods and which we were not previously aware of. The buffet we chose was extremely fairly priced and we were more than happy to pay extra for any tes and coffees ordered.

Hidden local gem. Great cheesy chips! If you are walking from the University, there's a footpath across from the roundabout that is easy to miss.

Met up here with my son and some of his mates before going over to watch England v Australia in the women's rugby world cup. This is a gem of a pub. Friendly bar staff, good service, nice selection of beers and tasty food.

Used to go here regularly for lunch whilst working at Falmer campus. Five years on we revisited the Swan to see if much had changed. It hasn’t really, which is a shame, but we did kind of expect it. I would love loved to see a more progressive menu of traditional pub classics. Steak chunks in the pie, not minced. Calamari Rings isn’t a main in my food book, sorry. However, the food was hot, simple but tasty and came out quickly. Friendly staff as always.

Lovely little pub, made ideal with the real fireplace that was kept stoked. I had the gammon roast that was what I would call "a proper plate like Mum would make", it wasn't all herbs/bells and whistles, but a hearty plate of food with swede, stuffing etc. The servers were very nice, but it took a while to get served, get sauces etc, and things like the fact you order at the bar wasn't made clear, so when we went up a number of other tables then joined as they had all been waiting at their tables for someone to go over.

Lovely local pub. Felt nostalgic like stepping back in time. The bar manager and staff were great, and the food was just right after a long Sunday country walk. Will definitely be back.

We went here for the first time for a Sunday roast and were not disappointed - excellent food with as many Yorkshire’s and potatoes that you want. I had the nut roast and it was great. Friendly and efficient service and really nice decor - not too crowded and not rushed. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love this pub. One of the best in the county. To give you an idea how well worth a visit here is.. I live in Shoreham a town with 20+ drinking establishments within the town limits (trust me, we do a pub crawl every year) and I am quite happy to drive 20 minutes down the road to be warmly welcomed at The Swan. There are several reasons why.. They are a proper beer drinkers pub. No music piped in. Open fires when needed and house beers you’ll find nowhere else) two examples being Hacker Pschorr & Palmers. Plus friendly knowledgeable staff who don’t intrude but have a funny story if you wish to engage. They do also have sport on but with 3 separate bar areas, if that’s not your thing then you can relax If only all pubs were like this!

A super pub for a beer lover. Palmers Ales (a long way from Dorset). Served by knowledgeable and charming staff. Ploughman's, fish cakes, pasta all good. Definitely a recommendation.

I've been there a few days ago with my colleagues. Staff are charming. Food is very tasty and it serves in a generous portions. Close to the pub there is the Falmer pond, a nice place to go for a walk. I really recommend it.
