   We were really disappointed in Christmas Day dinner here yesterday. Last year was so much better. Table booked for 3pm for a big group of us, we all rushed to get there and on arrival we were forced to wait in an incredibly busy bar area, squashed between other guests waiting. We had to wait for over 30 minutes to be seated at our table. I had turkey and it was a tiny portion of hard, reformed meat. No stuffing on the plate at all. No bread sauce. Hardly any roast potatoes and they were not crispy or cooked well. Last year there was a big bowl of lovely crispy roast potatoes to share. Kept having to repeat drinks order and chase for this. Also NO Yorkshire puddings - even when they were on menu! I can’t believe we paid £145 per person. Comparing our experience from 2024 it was very disappointing

   Have been going here for the last 5 years for Xmas dinner with 10 of us. Most years it has been brilliant. This year, I am afraid, was nowhere near the standard of previous years. Service was just OK. Had to find staff at times to be served. The food took a very long time to arrive. When it did eventually arrive the portions (for the price) were measly eg. If you order fish pie. That is all you get! No side portion of veg etc.. think this should be mentioned upon ordering. A complimentary side of sprouts was offered up as an almost apology! The two menu option is also poor and must be confusing for the kitchen staff. Whilst it is always nice to have plenty of options. Just have the one menu to save any confusion. When the bill arrived there were extra meals added that were not ordered. Whilst also missing items that had been ordered. This took time to address meaning we were still occupying a table while the next guests had arrived. Hopefully a one off but left feeling that next year an alternative venue maybe sought.

   I wrote directly to the Hotel via email before sharing this review to give them right to reply but as they don’t seem to want to reply then I will post here too. Long story short, visited with friends for a birthday celebration having booked in advance. Service was slow and the mains took an hour to arrive and 3 of the 4 were inedible. We were offered our drinks free of charge but what we paid did still not reflect the quality of the food or service. Really disappointed, particularly as I have eaten here several times and found it much better. Won’t be going back again this time.

   Sadly not a great experience! Table of 19 booked for a family meal. Before I start the young lady serving on her own was amazing! Food came out very slowly, some got food others didn’t and we decided to start, the food was getting cold. Then after I had almost finished my dinner the roast potatoes came out, along with Brussels that my knife would not cut into and finally hot gravy- all rather too late. The roast itself was mediocre- 2 slices of well done beef, one carrot slice, one parsnip and one Yorkshire pudding but with a 10 min wait for the rest. We had to keep asking re puddings and again some got, some didn’t. Best bit was the tea - 3 cups to share a pot of tea. One tea bag and half a pot, didn’t even get a third of a cup, no spoons, no sugar. It was well below expectations and a Toby Carvery would have been nicer, warmer and value for money.

   Me and my girlfriend decided we would try out the food in this fine establishment. We bought a drink at the bar then was taken to our seats to order food. It happened to be steak night and our waiter (Luke) was absolutely amazing, with good old British banter but also very professional. I always get a Rib/eye steak, but like recommended something else by like and I was not disappointed at all. My other half got fish and chips which was cooked to perfection, and oh my god the beef dripping chips are to die for! We will 100% be back, and give Luke a raise because he deserves one!!

   My friends and I enjoyed very good quality meat roasts with freshly baked Yorkshire puddings. There were generous portions of cabbage and roast potatoes to share between 2 people. Every element of the roast was flavourful and done well. Although the staff was slow and we’ve had to wave them down a few times to grab their attention at the table, but they were friendly. I would come back here with my family.

   Fantastic hotel booked it last minute due to work but can't say a bad thing about the place, the room was clean and very nicely decorated. The pub attached to it is great food is amazing I had the fish pie for my main and really enjoyed it, plenty to pick from on the menu. Well worth a stay or even a visit for a meal in the pub.

   Had an absolutely wonderful Sunday lunch here. From the start the service was fantastic, every person who served us was really friendly and attentive, special shout-out goes to Charlotte who was so pleasant throughout our meal. The food was great too, I had a roast which I’d highly recommend. One of the only places I’ve been for a roast that actually gives you enough gravy! Will definitely be back.

   Popped out to have a couple of drinks on Friday evening. Warm greeting on arrival, staff friendly and helpful. Didn't have food this time, but have eaten here before - good options for gluten free which is always a bonus. Best visited in the summer as the outdoor dining terrace is lovely.

   A very attractive pub with very pleasant staff, unfortunately the food wasn't much to shout about. We ordered two roasts which both arrived lukewarm, one was returned a reheated, I assume they cook all the food early on and leave them on a hot plate until an order is placed. I would visit again but not to eat, some nicer pubs locally with better food and prices.
