Booked at the last minute. Had the choice of old part of hotel or new. Opted for old but really think I should have tried the new, maybe might have been better. Room was okay, clean but tired looking. No plug in bathroom sink and hairdryer was the type that’s normally fitted in a bathroom so a 62 year old woman had to sit on the floor to dry her hair due to the extremely short lead. Bed was extremely uncomfortable, bathroom although clean had a lot of black around doorframe. Black marks on curtains in bedroom. Access door to bar from rooms was filthy. Surprising with Covid still doing the rounds. Reluctant to touch. Bar was okay, but rough around the edges but okay. Bar man was pleasant and friendly as were other staff but restaurant side of it was lacking. Where we ate was clearly more for eating than drinking. The food was nice, just standard chain restaurant food and price was okay. I appreciate we ate late but surely our plates could have been cleared. We sat with dirty plates in front of us until we went back to our room. Couldn’t order dessert as chef finished at quarter to 9. Again I appreciate we sat down to eat at 8 but cannot understand why we could not have got a dessert which doesn’t really need a chef to put together although when our waitress brought our food we never saw her again anyway, not even to check if everything was alright with our meal. In fact when we sat originally we had no cutlery so had to ask for some, she went off to get it and returned minus the cutlery to start cleaning another table so we had to ask again. I also noticed when we went in to eat chairs were not even pushed back tidily which normally restaurants do when clearing tables. I’ve given two stars as the food was fine and bar staff and reception pleasant. Will not be returning

Location suited us. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Plumbing was v noisy. We were misled about pub closing times. Didn't separate double bed although that was offer made by staff on check-in. Paid for breakfast was good. Included breakfast confusing. Do one or other properly.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The room was well presented, with lots of space. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and fresh. The only small criticism is I think the toilet seat could be of better quality as it did not match the quality of the rest of the bathroom and bedroom features. The breakfasts were fabulous and extremely good value for money. The room was also well priced.
