“5* over the moon with First Psychology, if you are unsure or still thinking on it, call them, it’ll be the best thing you ever do. I can’t recommend FP and Victor Morton highly enough. I don’t do many reviews, only when something is of a high standard. FP and Victor are brilliant, they are providing me with such a high standard of care that I felt that need to write a review I hope this review gives a person needing help that confidence to call. I was previously seeing another therapist in Aberdeen however we were unhappy. My NHS psychiatrist said some of his other patients had recommended first psychology. So my family and I phoned, reception were extremely helpful, patient and friendly. Each professional had a informative bio which helped us make our decision on choosing a therapist and the receptionist explained the process brilliantly. All the team at FP are helpful, cheery and friendly each time we call. I chose Victor Morton as my therapist, I was very nervous and my anxiety was high ahead of the first session with him. I felt alittle more relaxed because it was done via FaceTime rather than on the laptop. I was immediately put at ease early in the session as Victor is so friendly, calm and reassuring. Sounds odd but I think what also helped was he wasn’t wearing a shirt or tie, just casual wear. He is very professional but also relaxed that I feel comfortable enough to talk about difficult and upsetting things. Victor explained that he wants me to be honest with him, something I struggled to voice with the previous therapist. He explained his expertise, knowledge and his ethos in a clear way that i understood. In the first 15mins of the session I the difference between Victor and previous therapists (including NHS) was like day and night. In the 20 years I have had complex mental health he is the first professional to ask me to write a timeline of events/life. I sent the timeline over to Victor, it was quite clear that he had studied and memorizing it. This in itself meant so much to me, it feels like he genuinely cares and shows a great level of interest. Each session feels structured which I like but it still relaxed, Victor manages the session time well, I feel we cover a great deal within the time but does just the right amount, it is never overwhelming for me. I struggle to retain information and learning is problematic for me but he explains things in a helpful way. Therapists have tried to teach me breathing techniques but I fail to remember but they breathing technique Victor taught me in session 1, I got immediately! The visual link he showed helped me too. I have absolutely confidence in Victor as a professional, I now feel Alittle hope that maybe I can get to recovery. I actually look forward to each appointment, I feel excited thinking ‘what will I learn today’ mindset and I leave each appointment on a good note, feeling positive, Victor sets me some homework each week, encouraging me to play a active and hands on role towards my recovery. I could go on and on with praise and do Plummets for Victor and FP. They have been absolutely amazing, I can’t believe the difference in only 3 sessions. I have complex issues for the past 20 years with CPTSD and more, I have 8 professionals helping me just now, I have been in/out of hospital, cbt courses, CMHT, psychiatrist and multiple services involved. I was seeing a private therapist in Aberdeen but we were unhappy. When my family and I phoned FP, I was so incredibly desperate, in crisis/shutdown mode and having suicidal moments. In just 3 sessions FP and Victor have helped beyond measure, I now see a tiny glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe I could get to longterm recovery. I have written this lengthy review but there is so much more, not sure I have summarized it well but I’ve tried. Excellent company and very high standard of care. If have read this please know there is hope and I encourage you to call FP to find a professional that can help you.”

“I was referred to Avenue last year from another service, I had been really anxious about attending and I wasn’t expecting much from the service due to previously being let down by other places but that soon changed when I met Julie and Avenue became a safe space for me. I can’t thank all the staff enough for their kindness and understanding. They made me feel comfortable, safe and welcome each time. At every session Julie made me feel comfortable and safe which allowing me to open up. I could talk or not talk, there was no pressure, I could be honest and open without being judged but most importantly I felt listened too and for that I will be forever grateful.”
