“I’ve been to many restaurants, those which include restaurants that have multiple Michelin stars. I am super critical with reviews, but I never thought it would come to the day I would say this.. but this food “is food that brings you back home… back home to your mother”. That’s so rare in this day and age and think how much of an expert someone has to be to create that with Thai food for someone coming from Sri Lankan origin. Every ingredient is fresh, the blend of spices, the quality of meat and the food expertly made brings a dish which is truly homemade and delicious. I have never experienced anything that tastes truly homemade from a restaurant outside the home. I feel great after eating this too compared to other takeaways as it’s so natural. This is hands down the best restaurant in St Albans. Kat and her partner are such a superb couple running this restaurant, they are incredibly kind and accommodated to a special birthday request. They both came out and greeted us, which was super kind of them and proved many things but the biggest.. this is homemade food, food made from the heart. You want to try true Thai food.. don’t bother with the £800 flight, come here - to this very place a drive away in a lovely home situated in St Albans and you will experience it first hand. Simon taught us all about the history of sushi, showed us how to make it with accessible ingredients and gave us so much knowledge we will use in our kitchen going forward! “ordered a kung po chicken , egg fried rice and salt and chilli pepper chicken. i believe it took less than 15 minutes for the whole order to be prepared. food tasted really good and quite worth for its price (20£) as I’ve got half left over and im quite a big eater. The kung po chicken doesn't really taste like the authentic ones I’ve had and leans towards the sweet and sour side but it still tastes good nonetheless. Will definitely be back (a bag of prawn crackers was also given)”

“I went for Uncle Chili's and got their signature tso chicken with noodles for around £15, the amount of food was so huge I had to deploy the help of those with me to finish it. There were about 10-15 big pieces of chicken in the serving aswell as a large amount of noodles and salad. The salad was nothing special, although the chicken and noodles completely made up for that. Also had cold sweet tea on the side so total of £17.50, honestly worth it for the amount of food there. Obviously not the most authentic but thats not too much a problem I suppose.”

“Recently came to celebrate my brothers 18th birthday as he loves the Japanese cuisine. We started off with the crispy chilli squid, which was really tasty, would have preferred the sauce as a dip rather than all over the squid as the crispiness of the fried squid wasn’t as crispy by the time it came to our table. The tacos were delicious, bit if crunch and the whole dish came together really well. Salmon and tuna sashimi were incredibly fresh and was stunning, everything was placed incredibly well and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. We ordered several different types of rolls and they all were amazing! For dessert we ordered the yuzu lemon tart and the salted caramel bao bun both were delicious…. The bao was really crispy and had a good balance of ice cream to bao and the strawberries were lovely and fresh to cleanse the sweetness from the sauce. Staff were friendly and accommodating! Would definitely recommend people to come try this place out!”

“Second visit to Anatolia this week. Went in for breakfast today. We were 4. Ordered 3 breakfast platters for £13 each. Taste was great and quantity was ample. I’d say a platter is good for 2 and one can’t finish it alone. A couple nights ago we went there for dinner (5 folks). Ordered platter #3 for £90. Forgot to take a picture because we were super hungry and jumped right to it. Comes with 3 cold starters, lamb chops, lamb ribs, lamb shish, döner, lamb köfte/kebab/Adana kebab (whatever you want to call it), lots of rice and a bunch chicken. As expected of a Turkish establishment the lamb was good to perfection. Succulent and scrumptious. The flavour just bursts in your mouth with each bite. Couldn’t finish the whole thing, boxed it up and took it home. The staff on both occasions were very welcoming. Always smiling, accommodating and hospitable. Should’ve taken their names.”

“The Oak is a fantastic Chinese takeaway, I've never been to the restaurant itself but every time I have ordered from them it has been a fast delivery and always a friendly face. The food is exceptional and the portions are quite generous (if you're missing the Hot-Wok that closed on colney hatch lane a few years ago this is a perfect alternative). Overall great food and a lot of different menu options, highly recommend.”
