“We arrived at the restaurant on Sunday and were greeted so warmly by the host/manager. We have been a few times to this restaurant and the bar staff recognised us which was so lovely, recognition from staff goes a long way and made us feel so warm and welcome! Drinks arrived so quickly and he even remembered what we had last time we visited which was incredible service from him. The cocktails didn’t disappoint. The service was unbelievable, at no point did we have to ask for drinks order or food order to be taken. They’re incredibly attentive here. The food is artwork, it is so fresh and home made which is exactly what you want in a lovely independent restaurant. The lighting was perfect and the music fitted the restaurant aesthetic and the time of day we arrived. I can’t fault this place whatsoever, can’t recommend it enough.”

“Yesterday I was walking with my baby and really needed somewhere to stop, feed and change my baby, and just to re charge as it was a stressful morning. I had dropped my car off, at a garage, in a different town miles from home. I entered the hotel and was kindly greeted by a lovely lady, who could clearly see I needed just a little help to get sorted. This lady was so kind and caring so I asked her name. The lady replied. “Irene”. I thanked her greatly for how warm and inviting she was towards me. I would like to thank you once again. Irene, you was a Rae of sunshine towards my baby and I. “Came Saturday 3rd December for our Christmas do. We all had food and drinks. It was very busy so our food was miss ordered but once it came it was out of this world. Most of us had loaded fries. Because of the delay we got a discount. The food prices were really reasonable. Would definitely recommend.”

“Had an amazing experience with them….. very nice place with free and secure parking their staff is quite nice and rooms are goods as per the price it quite cheap and room was clean comfortable. In toilet I would recommend rather giving soap bar, if they add body wash and hand wash would give nice impression….. really happy with them…. Planning to travel again soon”

“Love this cafe. As a veggie the soup of the day was chicken but the owner James set to and made me the most delicious mushroom and sweetcorn soup ever . The prices cant be beaten in this place (large full English £4.95) and the menu extensive with a mix of English and Carribean all sounds delicious. James looks so calm under pressure as he was alone cooking and serving when we called in but everyone served in no time..my favourite place to eat when in Bolton.”

“Went for a birthday dinner, the staff were polite and pleasant throughout and the owner was beyond lovely, treating all his customers and staff with tremendous respect. The food quality is outstanding and the portions are generous with very fair prices for what you receive. 10/10 would eat there again.”

“The Royal is an hidden gem the food is outstanding all home cooked, and excellent value for money. The menu caters for all, the Sunday lunches are amazing all freshly prepared and if you don’t have room for your dessert you can take it home. The homemade pies a choice of Cheese or Meat are freshly made by Alison are a worth a try they are delicious. It is well worth a visit and the prices are extremely reasonable. The staff go above and beyond they are so friendly especially Alison & Nicola.”

“Interesting first visit to this place. Power cut during the live show, a drunk horse that looked like it could do with a kebab, the snooker table was a bit wonky and the fruit machine appeared to pay out in Deutsche Marks. The psychic offended my dad, who isn't remotely interested in touching up children. I got white gloss on my new jacket, and there were smouldering tissues in the toilet waste bin where someone had lobbed a cigar. The door staff also made inappropriate comments about the opening hours of my girlfriend's legs. Bar staff great, but the optics could probably do with lowering a bit as they were serving shorts in vases. The new Japanese lager they were promoting certainly packs a punch and got me absolutely wasted. Kids' play area was decent with a great snake-themed bouncy castle and a Berry chew dispenser. Unfortunately I didn't get any action when we got home as the machine selling the flavoured contraceptives appeared to be 10 years out of date. Overall, best place I've been for ages. Will be back :)”
