“My prostate problems arose following a relatively routine eye operation; basically, after the operation, I found I could not urinate. A catheter was fitted and there followed nearly five months under the care of a local NHS hospital with visits to A and E, UTIs, large amounts of blood in the urine, extreme pain, soreness, and such like. At one point I was hospitalised for eight days and an emergency operation was performed to cauterise bleeds from the prostate. Quality of life suffered. Day-to-day tasks became a trial, visits were curtailed and holidays cancelled. Finally, I was referred for a HoLEP procedure under the NHS but, because of the long waiting time and the loss of quality of life I opted for the operation to be performed at Spire Manchester by Mr Matthew Liew. The operation was performed within a few weeks from initial consultation. At that initial consultation, the procedure was thoroughly explained and all my questions answered. I was extremely satisfied with the treatment that I received during all my time at Spire Manchester under Mr Liew's care. Post-op, the staff were kind, attentive and supportive. They explained how the operation had gone and what to expect in the coming days and weeks. My recovery so far has followed what was outlined; blood in the urine ceased after about ten days and incontinence has diminished week by week and although still present it has only been six weeks since the operation; it is manageable and much improved since the early weeks. What has changed is my general quality of life. As my wife said, it's given us our lives back since we must be aware of the impact that this has not just on ourselves but on friends and loved-ones too. We are extremely grateful for everything that Mr Liew and the other staff have done for us and we would highly recommend this route to anyone. My dental care has been really straight forward but my 3 children have a bit more challenging. Initially all 3 were nervous and would only stand in the room and not even sit in the chair or open their mouth. Lisa recommended coming every 3 months to slowly build their confidence. We have been doing precisely that and now all 3 sit in the chair, have their teeth checked and even have the fluoride paint on their teeth! After my false crown finally gave up after a decade, cracking the tooth root in the process, I needed to understand my options and what choice was right for me. From the very first consultation Phil and the staff were excellent, explaining to me all options, possible risks, what to expect and how the process would work. They showed me the scans so I could see for myself what was had happened and what could be done. I chose to go for a dental implant which, given we are hopeful it will last decades for me, is actually a responsible investment to restore my smile. Although quite unsettling for me, both to actually lose a tooth and also to face an unknown surgery involving worrying phrases such as 'drill into the bone' and 'reshape the gums' Phil has seen this kind of problem many times before and his confidence in being able to make it right counts for a lot. I left the building with a timetable of my treatment and the price quoted was the one I paid, it never changed. After a few weeks of treatment I have now had the old root extracted and implant placed in one session, and recently had the permanent crown fitted after allowing a few weeks for healing. It was all done with care and consideration and I am so pleased with the result. The only time I was a little sore during the process was after the extraction, which is to be expected, but I was handed a bag of aftercare products and followed up on by the staff the day after. A week or so later I was fine. I felt nothing as the implant was set into my jawbone, and only a pinch when the permanent crown was set into the gum. Should you need dental work doing then do consider these guys, they know what they are doing and take a personal satisfaction in doing the job well.”

She is empathetic, caring and human and takes the trouble to really get to know you and what is ailing you before she even starts to look at ideas to help - very refreshing, given that most therapists in my experience have prematurely diagnosed you and started you on a generic treatment plan before you've even told them your name. Jo has the ability to put you at ease instantly and is ridiculously easy to talk to. More importantly, when you walk out of the door she doesn't forget about you until your next visit. On numerous occasions between sessions, I would receive an email checking up on me and seeing how things were going - each time I arrived at a session she had full recollection of where we left etc, etc. I only visited Jo's practice for 3 months due to personal circumstances, but she achieved more progress with me in that time than I could have dreamed possible.
