Quick bite cafe in Manchester

“Great space to sit down and do a bit of reading/writing. Cheap as chips - hot chocolate for just £1.30!! Came with complementary chocolate (not found in the picture because I scranned it). Cream and marshmallows cost no extra - a welcome change from larger chain cafés Staff are lovely - seems to be run by Wonder Woman with a smile, and her band of merry lasses. Delightful pink and green interior (avant garde) Cleanliness without fault. Overall a surprise to find today, nestled near what could historically be considered a "rough" part of Blackley, but you wouldn't think it with the lovely hospitality. I expect this business to go far. Keep up the cracking work ladies.”

“I’ve been going to Roma since 1999. That makes me feel oldddd, but other than the building becoming a part of Morrisons all those years ago, nothing else has changed. That’s a great thing. Superb coffee, great service, lovely staff, high quality deli produce and products, and the Tonno Bianco pizza is still my favourite pizza of all time. I’d always highly recommend this fantastic deli/cafe”

“Without this place, Chorlton would be really lacking in good east Asian food options. The food here is fire. The Bun Cha (fishcake noodle soup) is the one to order; the flavour in that broth really is something special! You can tell these guys really care about the food. I wish the papaya salad was spicier & funkier but that might just be me. Either way it's still fresh & delicious.”

“Best sandwich shop in South Manchester by a mile, have been coming here for well over 10 years. Lynn and the team are fantastic, always happy to see you. The food is outstanding and exceptionaly good value. I HIGHLY reccomend a Shark Special with bacon, although I've tried nearly all the menu over the years and there is not a single item I didn't enjoy. Do call ahead for quick pickup, it is busy between 11.30-2.”

“My wife and I visit Scona every Sunday morning for a treat whilst our kids are at a local yoga class. The scones are AMAZING, obviously, but so are the breakfasts and drinks. Excellent service, too. Roll on Sunday! :)”

“Beautiful. Located in the quaint town of Uppermill, this chic cafe bar is a faithful spinoff of one of Uppermill’s best cafes, Caffe Grande Abaco. This cafe bar has a nice rustic and authentic atmosphere, like a traditional cafe bar you may find in Italy. Also, the staff are really friendly (10/10), especially Nigel (the owner), who was great to me. Plus, I went to Caffe Grande Abaco for 10 years, and it was quite emotional to meet Nigel, as I was always asking the staff at Caffe Grande Abaco, “Is the owner in?”. Now, back to Veloce! The cafe offers a variety of drinks, handpicked from CGA (at this point, I’m going to shorten it - Caffe Grande Abaco). So, you can have a nice latte or a cosy hot chocolate while you chill and warm up here. Surprisingly, it is also a deli, since they have charcuterie meats and cheeses, condiments, authentic Mediterranean pastries and biscuits, and even freshly baked bread (so authentic!). I tried Rogers Pistachio Cruffin (mix between a croissant and a muffin) which was crispy and flaky on the outside, but fluffy and indulgent on the inside, and the silky pistachio cream made it even better. Perfect for breakfast! They also do sandwiches here, with fresh sourdough and scrumptious meats and cheeses and even flaky sausage rolls. What I really want to mention, however, is the fact that they are supporting local businesses. Most things here (the pastries, products and even honey) are made by small businesses in towns near Uppermill, which is really nice as Veloce is helping out those businesses. Overall, this place is a must if you are looking for a proper Italian cafe bar, and some delicious food. It is also perfect if you want to buy some charcuterie meats and cheeses, as they have a wide variety of them. Only complaint is, Veloce really needs to bring in some Arancini, as I don’t see much Arancini in Saddleworth, and I’m very sad about that. “Called in for breakfast, 1st time, was more than happy. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. Food and drink a Big 10/10 food was freshly cooked and piping hot. They even avoided one of my all time pet hates, cutting the toast corner to corner(it drives me insane lol) if you haven't been and are in the area definitely call in. Thank you ladies I will definitely be back.”

“I have been a regular customer at this coffee bar ever since it opened the lady who runs the business is a wonderful welcoming and kind individual. I have visited many cafes around the area but in my personal opinion this has a more homely atmosphere to it. The food is spot on and I have never had a bad meal”

“My friend and I took our 6 year old daughters to the Funky Monkey Christmas party yesterday and what an absolute blast we had! There were fun games and prizes for the kids, plenty of choice from the menu for the kids to choose from and they even got to meet Santa and get a special gift! Our girls absolutely loved their time, and us mums and dads had so much fun too. We even won a prize as adults and can’t wait to have our beautiful Christmas cupcakes!! The staff are wonderful here, and you’re literally made to feel part of the Funky Monkey family from the moment you step in the door! Our food was delicious - we would particularly rate the latte and the banana and toffee muffin and I am looking forward to coming back to try even more from the menu. Thank you so so much to the team for hosting such a fun event last night, you could tell a lot of heart and hard work went into this and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. We really hope you’ll host this again next year and in the meantime we will definitely be back for more tea, coffee and treats! Merry Christmas to you all!”

“Food is top notch and had a great meal. Walked in and kinda stood in the middle awkwardly waiting to been seen too, it looked like they were having issues with one of the machines, thought someone would have acknowledged us or asked if we wanted a seat (if someone said hi be with you in a second we won't of felt weird, like we were in the middle of their service). We approached one of the waitresses and asked if we can sit outside, found a space and was given a menu, asked if we wanted a drink straight away but said we needed time to review the menu as it was our first time here. Our waitress was very younger and honest with her description about the food. The menu sounded tasty and wanted to try it all, but settled for the eggs Benedict, my partner getting the salmon and I got the bacon. Ordered a passion fruit smoothie and a pineapple smoothie too, these came out very quickly and were very refreshing, the passion fruit was sweet and sharp and was a decent amount. We were told that my bacon dish would come out later as they ran out of supplies and asked if I was happy to wait and I agreed, 5minutes later both of our meals came out and looked fantastic! The garlic spinach was bang on, not over powering at all, the bacon was real bacon, tasted of good quality and decent amount and the eggs were a little over for my liking but tasty none the less. The potatoes were well seasoned and very crispy, enjoyed dipping into some ketchup. Fantastic meal and highly recommend it. My partners dish looks scrumptious too. After both finishing our meals, we were satisfied and happy with the meal we had just had but wanted a sweet treat. We ordered a plate of pancakes to share, best decision of the day. Three beautifully stack pillows with caramelised banana in-between with just the right amount of Nutella on.. the picture can not convey how tasty this was! Although we had a great experience here, some other patrons didn't, two people had a delay with their coffee which they made very clear to the rest of the diners, telling everyone how they had waited a long time as they left, turns out busy bees were having issues with the coffee machine and the diners were told, even given a brownie for the delay but still left disgruntled. Another table waited the entire length of our meal (two courses) to be served hers only to be packaged up for her to take away. Amazing to have something like this so close to us and can't wait to visit again, it is new and more can be done to refine the service making it more smooth and to help all patrons have the same experience but I'm really happy something like this is here (Perhaps giving roles or sections/tables to stop doubling up (one table was asked if the food was okay by three different waitresses)). Definitely coming back again for the food, well worth a visit!”

“Now we’re talking. La Collina was a treat - they have a short, simple home-made lunch menu. I had gnocchi with Bolognaise sauce. Perfect portion size. Coffee was delicious and forced myself to have a pistachio cannoli alongside it. Matt the chef is a focused on flavour and dishes with a twist - you can taste it. Nice space to work from too. Back soon. BACK AGAIN: La Collina is a hidden gem. The menu is developing from daytime only into an evening offering too. Matt, the creator and chef is passionate about the menu. “We have ordered breakfast for delivery from here a number of times now and I can honestly say it’s the best we’ve had in a long time, every single time we haven’t been disappointed. Food is piping hot when it arrives and is beautifully presented you can tell the staff take pride in their food and service. The little touches make such a difference and the staff write little messages on the boxes and receipts saying thank you, or enjoy etc. Will definitely be visiting in person at some point.”

“What an amazing venue. We had an amazing night watching three grassroots artists who you can clearly see have been supported by the snug in Atherton. It’s venues like this that make a real difference to the grassroots music here in the UK and without them people would not be able to see the new up-and-coming artists. Ticket price was amazingly low for such great entertainment. Staff were amazing with great service and super friendly with the production staff going out of their way to make sure everything was set up perfect This venue is the heart and soul of grassroots music in Bolton, so give it all your support”
