We were really excited to eat here because it was a very cold day and we were in the mood for French onion soup. Unfortunately, this French onion soup fell short. The escargot was ok. The house white wine was not my favorite either. The staff was polite.

It’s a pretty small restaurant, so I’d recommend making a reservation. The tables are packed pretty close together, so it can be a bit tricky to get in and out of your seat. The ventilation isn’t great either β€” the whole place smells like the kitchen, and you kind of take the smell with you when you leave. The food was okay overall. The bread that came with the escargot wasn’t toasted and tasted pretty bland. My steak was more medium than medium rare, but the mussels were good β€” nice creamy, cheesy flavor. The French onion soup was just okay too; the cheese wasn’t really melted, not flavourful and the bread in it was plain.

We stopped by Petit Paris for dinner after noticing its great rating on Google Maps β€” and it didn’t disappoint! The restaurant felt cozy and welcoming, with a lovely homely atmosphere. We were greeted by a very charismatic waiter β€” probably French, judging by how effortlessly natural his French sounded. We ordered the French onion soup and a pot of mussels in blue cheese sauce. I have to say β€” these were some of the best, most flavorful mussels I’ve ever had! The soup was rich, comforting, and perfect for a chilly evening. ✨ Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for authentic flavors and warm service.

Intimate cafe in the Grassmarket. My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch on a weekday in September, and it was the perfect antidote after the crowded hubbub of visiting the castle. The pris fixe lunch menu had good options and was well portioned. We left feeling well satisfied and ready for more sightseeing. We did not have reservations and they had no trouble seating us, but easy to see it could get very busy.

The terrine was delicious. The steak with pepper sauce was really good. The chicken breast was pretty plain but the blue cheese sauce was delicious. House wine is good. Service was excellent. It’s a small cramped space - just like a Paris bistro should be!

So happy to return to Edinburgh and to this fabulous little French restaurant! The food is always so well done. This time we shared a dozen escargot, black pudding, mussels in blue cheese sauce and Toulouse sausage. They also have a good selection of wines. Next time I hope I’ve left room for desert because they look pretty special!

Unexpected Gem in the city! We called day of for reservations on New Years Eve and they had availability. We had escargot and the French onion soup for starters which were very tasty appetizers. For dinner we had the pan fried Scottish Salmon which was excellent! Highly recommend this restaurant and would go back.

Good lunch deal in a touristy area, around Β£18 for starter, main and coffee. I have been here for a few times and my favourite starter is the French onion soup. Hot soup is definitely the best comfort food in winter time.

Very cute French restaurant near Victoria Street and Edinburgh castle. There's a ground floor and a basement area. Tables are pretty tight and it can get a little loud but the food more than makes up for it. Can especially recommend the mussels in blue cheese sauce as a starter, but also the salmon and the goats cheese quiche were outstanding. We paid 42Β£ for two people without drinks. Service was friendly and efficient as well, no booking required, booking can only be done via email not via a website.

We ordered onion soup, goat cheese, sea bass and salmon. It was tasty and well presented. Location is in an active area with a very nice atmosphere. It’s pricey a bit but highly recommended.
