A Disappointing Return - Unfortunately Will Not Be Back My recent stay at Golden Cross Holiday Park, Lodge Number 7, from June 24th to June 27th, was, regrettably, a huge disappointment. I'd stayed here approximately three years ago and had a fantastic experience, which is why I confidently booked again. What a mistake that was. This time, the accommodation was far from the clean and relaxing haven I remembered. The hot tub area was clearly uncleaned, which is not only gross but totally unacceptable for a supposed luxury amenity. Due to these cleanliness issues, we didn't even get the benefit of using the hot tub at all during our stay. Inside, the curtains were stained, and to my horror, the place was infested with moths. We had to dodge a number of moths in the lounge on the first night, and on the morning of the second day, we was greeted by a big moth in the bed – this for us was indeed the final straw. To make matters worse, the floor in the lounge area was noticeably sticky, contributing to an overall impression of neglect and a general uncleanliness about the whole place; it just felt grubby. We actually felt the issues were so bad that we decided not to stay any longer and left the day before we was due to depart. On top of the hygiene issues, there were also security concerns. The main gates to the site appeared to be permanently open; not once did we have to use the code to get in or out. This completely negated the point of having a secure entry system and made me feel quite uneasy about the safety of my belongings. I haven't bothered to put in an official complaint as I honestly see no point. The standards we experienced are likely a reflection of the response we would have received, and therefore, the best course of action is simply not to return. Instead, I want to warn others of what they could potentially experience. If my feedback happens to improve standards, then that's great. Given how much standards have slipped since my last visit, I definitely won't be returning to Golden Cross Holiday Park again. It's a real shame, as my first experience was so positive.

I recently stayed at this lodge, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it based on my experience. For the price point, I expected much better quality. The condition of the lodge itself was disappointing—there were noticeable holes in the walls, marks all over the shower, and scratches on the walls that made the place feel poorly maintained. It didn’t match the level of comfort or upkeep I had anticipated for the cost, but from the other reviews seems a few of the lodges are also poorly maintained. To make matters worse, when I encountered an issue during my stay, I reached out to the staff for assistance and was ignored. The lack of attention and customer service was frustrating and added to the overall negative experience which is a shame. Additionally, I noticed something odd about their pricing strategy. It seems that the lodge uses technology to monitor when people are looking at specific dates. An hour or so later, the price would suddenly go up. If you’re considering booking a stay, my advice is to do it right away to avoid the price hike—it appears to be a tactic to push up costs once they see you’re interested. Overall, the stay didn’t meet expectations, and the lack of attention to detail, along with questionable pricing practices, makes it hard to justify the cost.

We stayed 21st December 2024 and they were great in changing our room to dog friendly as we didn’t want to leave our 12 year old dog behind so luckly that had them free. The lodge was so magical with the tree and was so lovely to stay as I was up visiting my grandad who has terminal cancer. Had a bit of problem not having the front door key but they came down a gave 2 keys twice as they gave the wrong key but luckly the woman went and hunt for the set.Other than that no issue with the place lovely set up kid friendly and dog. the only thing I would suggest is cover over the hot tube as we got a lot of sticks hitting us because of the wind

Just returned from a 3 night stay as car was getting some work done at EST Performance down the road. Absolutely lovely. Lodge was extremely clean and modern. Couldn’t fault it. All cooking & facilities provided for a perfect stay. They even let us check out late free of charge. The only downfall would be the decking area, it would really benefit from being fenced off due to the open field and other lodges. We struggled to let our dog outside without a lead. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

Quite nice. They have hot tubs and comfy beds. It is just off of a busy maim road but from my experience I couldn't hear much if at all. The one we stayed in had afew problems with the tap and shower and boiler but got sorted as much as possible I would recommend staying here but if you have kids I wouldn't stay long

Absolutely amazing place to stay, loved every single minute of it. Had to ask for the hot tub to be turned down ever so slightly, they sent someone the next day with no hassle. Very peaceful, never hear anything from neighbours, only a little road noise every now and then. Location is spot on, easy route no matter where you go. Wifi can be a little slow but barely on phone so doesnt massively matter. Overall would highly recommend, this was our 2nd time coming here and we fall in love with it everytime, perfect for couples or families.

We had a great time staying in the Honeymoon cottage. It was nicely furnished, very clean and the hot tub was perfect. Please take the following comments as constructive criticism and not a complaint by any means. The double glazed doors that lead into the decking need adjusting, they were very difficult to open and close. The gate to the decking would benefit from a simple lock to avoid people entering the area whilst you're in the hot tub. It takes away from the feeling of the enclosed privacy when anybody can enter at any time. The small fence to the right of the cottage has a direct line of sight from the pubs upper room windows straight onto the hot tub which takes away much of the privacy also. The upper portion of the bamboo type fencing should be replaced with a type that is not able to be seen through. These little changes to the decking area and fencing would make this little cottage perfect! Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again :)
