“Stayed here in a tent. I'm a solo traveller, so it cost me £49 for two nights. Facilities were top class and clean. There is a freezer in the block close to the reception. They don't have a shop, but there are plenty of shops a short distance away, including a large Asda. There is also a small bistro on-site that sells fresh pizza, pealla and lasagne etc. Easy walking distance to the marina. The town is about 45 minutes walk. I used the bus at £2.50 each way. The bus is the 1X and the bus stop is opposite Lidl a short walk away. You catch the same 1X back at bus stop C on north street (close to the royal pavilion) There is access to the south downs walk a short walk away, so plenty to do.”

“Stayed in the Willow pod, really clean, well designed. Suprising a good amount of a space for a pod. Toilets and shower was extremely clean! Tim the owner was really lovely also and stopped to talk to us before we left which was very nice. The location is beautiful, so peaceful. The perfect get away space for relaxing I will deffo come back in the future I would highly visit staying here either in the pods or if you camp, staying here. Lots to do in the nearby time and it was a great touch having leaflets inside. Thank you for a great stay! Joe and Melissa”

“We had a wonderful stay. What a beautiful setting. The view was stunning and the pod was really well equipped and immaculately clean. Emma was lovely – left us to it, but was very friendly on bumping into her and I don’t doubt she’d have been very responsive if we’d have had any issues. Local area was lovely and we had a fab lunch at the Gunn Inn, a short walk away.”

    Kings Barn Camping

    ★★★★★ 4.9
    Open

“Great campsite. Only open two months of the year, but a really nice vibe. There are five campervan plots and they are a really good size. We've been to other sites where there would be twice as many squeezed in, but not here so you get a big plot. They are level too, or Plot B is, so no ramps/chocks required. The tent plots look good as well, each with their own space, and the grass is allowed to grow between plots which gives you some nice privacy. Compost toilets are really well constructed (a little draughty when it's raining and windy, but hey), and kept very clean. Small (cute) shower block, made in a farm trailer. You get a fire pit/BBQ with each plot, with logs, kindling and fire starters available to buy on site, as well as the obligatory marshmallow kit! Will & Jaz have a really great set up here. We had pretty awful weather when we went for the weekend, but we're going to really try to get back this year before they shut at the end of September. Would highly recommend, just don't book Plot B when we want it!”

Modern, comfortable, dog friendly, hot tub cleaned daily. Reception is extremely helpful. The owners are really accommodating and can’t do enough for you and your stay! Lovely walks and pubs to visit in walking distance. We always look forward to coming back year after year!”

    Port Lympne Safari Park

    ★★★★☆ 4.5

“Fabulous safari park with a lot to see in a beautiful landscape. The rooms were amazing - our treehouse wasn't in a tree, but above the treeline with grand views over the park and the the landscape beyond, all the way to the sea. The steps are steep, but once you are up there the accommodation doesn't disappoint. The park itself has a lot to offer for all the family, with driven safari-style tours, self-drive golf buggies or walking. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and facilities of a high standard. The animals are impressive, and the conservation ethos and sheer space of the park sets it above normal zoo experiences. It's not cheap but still a great day out and highly recommended.”

    Stud Farm Campsite, Telscombe Village

    ★★★★☆ 4.5

“Stud farm campsite is one of the most beautiful campsites I have stayed on. The views of the south downs and the sea are second to none. The campsite is quiet and had respectful people when we camped. They have a toilet block and showers although as we up on top of the downs the water pressure was very low so not sure how good the showers were, toilets were clean and tidy... Camp fires were allowed but only off the ground which is understandable. The have on-site staff to help and bring firewood if you need. It's only a short drive to birling gap or the start of the seven sisters. The top of the hill can get a bit windy but if you prepare for it it's not a problem. Keep an eye of for spitfire flybys”

“We stayed 21st December 2024 and they were great in changing our room to dog friendly as we didn’t want to leave our 12 year old dog behind so luckly that had them free. The lodge was so magical with the tree and was so lovely to stay as I was up visiting my grandad who has terminal cancer. Had a bit of problem not having the front door key but they came down a gave 2 keys twice as they gave the wrong key but luckly the woman went and hunt for the set.Other than that no issue with the place lovely set up kid friendly and dog. the only thing I would suggest is cover over the hot tube as we got a lot of sticks hitting us because of the wind”

“Really enjoyed a 4 day break with my friend. Accommodation is well equipped, shower is large & plently of hot water, kitchen area is sparce but has a kettle, microwave & double hob. The double bed was comfortable. We had a great view over marina. It was very quiet at night. Parking was a fair way from accommodation & the steps made it hard work with our suitcases etc. However I really enjoy the accommodation & would return again.”

“Spent a lovely weekend at Firle Camp. The tent pitches were lovely and spacious with lots of room between the tents. The view up to the downs was beautiful and it was lovely and quiet - despite being not far from the main road there was very little traffic noise - just pheasants, owls and the nearby church bells. Very restful, peaceful and a great 'back to basics' camp.”

“So magical camping here. I feel like this is a well kept secret. The kind staff, the helpful service, the affordability, the tasty breakfast, the spectacular views. I felt very safe staying as a solo female traveller and will definitely return. I was able to work in the café and the staff were so kind and considerate as I had to stay up late for a deadline. When I wasn't working, staff and residents engaged in hearty conversation. Good humoured Sally, in particular, made me feel at home. You'd be hard pushed finding somewhere this beautiful, peaceful, clean and well run for the same price. I'm a proud member of the YHA after this incredible introduction to the organisation. If this is what the YHA is all about then I am an unofficial ambassador for the organisation!”

“Stayed at the Secret Campsite near Hastings. Great little campsite, very peaceful and perfect if you want to feel like you want to camp in the wild but still have your creature comforts (there is a loo and hot running water for a shower). The Hosts are great people, super helpful. Don't really understand some of the one star reviews here, this is proper camping - not glamping. We loved it, will definitely be going back and we are taking all our friends!”
