“Comfortable hotel with a reasonable breakfast included and helpful staff. A couple of issues with room No 2 which was mentioned before leaving such as heated towel rail not working and instructions are needed in the room to operate the heating controls. Apart from that a satisfactory stay as always.”

“2 night stay with my 2 cats was amazing reception women was so nice and professional. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The shower is amazing!! But the best part is the breakfast the chef was so well mannered and cooked everything to perfection! Would definitely come again just for the breakfast.”

“Stopped off for a meal after days bird watching at Martin Mere. Glad we'd booked a table as place was really busy. Nice welcome when we arrived and service was efficient without being obtrusive. Generous portions and the homemade steak pie was delicious. Very reasonable prices too. Will be back.”

I particularly liked the offer to enjoy the relaxation room after treatment however I would have appreciated knowing this in advance so I could have come prepared/factored that into my timings. “A little hidden gem in standish i happened upon today after the worst reception with a booked table at the Owls in standish. The crown saved my 85 year old disabled father and mother's treat of a lunch and our day. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, the food was absolutely fabulous from the lunch menu, portions are substantial so go on an empty stomach but definitely worth a visit. I will not forget this place in a hurry and would recommend it to anyone. Lovely lovely place.”

“Only went in for a beer canging trains late on a Sunday And shock / glory they have departure boards for both Wigan stations so l at the bar And a good selections of ales And the beer was tasty I was on my way between Edinburgh and Manchester and faced a long wait in Wigan. This pub was with the wait”

“I stayed here recently with my daughter while on a rugby tour from Australia. We absolutely loved it here, the rooms were clean and nice comfy beds. “Lovely place to come for a walk or to chill out for a bit. It was popular when I visited, but wasn't too busy such that you could still walk around and find empty benches (though it was a bitter January day, so I can imagine during summer this location may be very busy). Plenty of ducks and geese to feed (please research food that is good for them - no bread!). It is very easy to get here from the railway station, though there is also a small car park available.”
