    Cafe Bianca London

    ★★★★☆ 4.4
    Closed

“Bianca’s Café Bianca’s hums while the morning wakes, Steam curling softly from teapots and cakes. Outside, the clouds still grumble and spin, But inside, the day’s already wearing a grin. The smell of toast, the hiss of the pan, The sigh of the kettle, the grin of a man. Old ladies gather — their laughter loud, Crackling like sparks through the morning crowd. Their smiles flash bright through the buttery haze, Fake teeth gleaming with mischievous blaze. They gossip and giggle, their joy unrefined, Wicked and golden and gloriously kind. Then — the door swings wide with a jubilant clang, Another crew enters, a self-made gang. They’re greeted like queens with golden handshakes, Given by the cook himself, applause in their wake. One whispers, “Did you see her look?” Another gasps, “I swear he winked — I’m shook!” Soon they’re glowing, delighted and good, As if they’d just been blessed by Paul Hollywood. The radio hums old songs of love, Toast lands like feathers from heaven above. The neon glows — HYGIENE: FIVE! — But it’s the people here who keep life alive. The chairs are scuffed, the tables lean, Yet every mark says someone’s been. Brown sauce glistens, the chatter’s deep, And hope stirs softly from its sleep. Strangers arrive with the chill on their skin, But the warmth of the place seeps gently in. Soon they’re laughing, feeling they’ve known These faces as friends, as part of their own. Outside may darken, the headlines may bite, But inside Bianca’s, the world feels right. A place of comfort, courage, and cheer, Where the essence of life still simmers here. A salute to Julie and Alex, long may you prosper.”

“What a lovely surprise. Our first visit was on a rainy day in early September on the way home from the hospital. Cheerful and helpful staff and customers. Enjoyed a portion of pasta bolognese, followed by a cake and coffee. We were "persuaded" to have the cake by two lovely Bangladeshi young ladies (they know a bit about rain) who ordered the chocolate cake between them - we had the vanilla. Good value. Excellent food. Cheerful and helpful staff and customers. This time one of the customers offered to buy us cups of tea each, and a muffin (where else would that happen) Worth a visit particularly on the way from the hospital to the station.”

“Absolutely love the vibe this place gives. It's spacious, colour scheme is nice and the plants make the place look homely. Music was relaxing and the young man (Jake) who served me was ever so friendly. They have some outside seating too. The frappe was very nice and I'm very fussy about those. And the bread and the presentation was very good too. Plus they have half price offer for kids at the moment. I need to visit again!!!!!!! Heart ♥️”

“This cafe is run by the absolute sweetest staff, the coffee is good and there are always dairy alternatives available; the eggs royale are fantastic and the vibes are always nice inside. It only took a couple of visits for them to remember my drink order and make me feel like a regular already. There’s an upstairs that is quite nice and quiet and there are a few tables outside which is perfect for a sunny day. I would definitely recommend!”

“One word: phenomenal! This place absolutely nails brunch. I tried the Eggs Benedict and they were perfection—poached eggs cooked just right, velvety hollandaise sauce, and served on a soft, toasted English muffin. Every bite was rich, balanced, and satisfying. And then came the Nutella pancakes—fluffy, warm, and generously layered with Nutella, topped with fresh berries and a light dusting of powdered sugar. A dream for anyone with a sweet tooth! The atmosphere was cozy yet stylish, perfect for a laid-back weekend morning. Staff were attentive and friendly, and the service was quick without feeling rushed. ☕ Bonus points for the great coffee”

    l'Atelier SW17

    ★★★★★ 4.8

“L'Atelier is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to in SW London! I can't believe I haven't visited earlier. My friend from Denmark came over and I wanted to take her somewhere special. We were a few mins late which was no trouble for owner Philip who greeted us with a warm smile. I wasn't drinking and he made us the most exquisite mocktails. We shared scallops and green lentils and a chicken tagine with couscous and since it was January, just poured over the dessert menu, vowing to return when we were keen to satisfy our sweet tooth. If there's one restaurant you try in the Balham, Wandsworth, Tooting area, try L'Atelier on Trinity Road - the vibe as soon as you step in is so chilled and Philip and Mona (who I later had the pleasure to learn is the Chef and Philip's wife) are the loveliest hosts. It's like we were transported to a little piece of Moroccan heaven for a couple of hours.”

I’ve already had a delicious mozzarella and roasted veg roll, a luxury matcha green tea with vanilla, and the homemade banana and chocolate croissant was a real treat! And such lovely people serving. “I’m not often ‘gushy’ over egg on toast but there’s a first time for everything! It’s our last day ‘over beyond’ in England and the breakfasts here have been largely unremarkable and certainly so when compared to the offerings at home. Well, I think England wins to Love against poor old Ireland, thanks to the truly exceptional breakfast at Drop Shot. Every tiny thing on the plate is first rate; the tea is delicious (Bewley’s, so we’ll take a point for that!) the toast, the butter, all exceptional. But the eggs… my goodness… Blindingly orange yolks, poached to nanosecond perfection, jammy and delicious. Himself had the ‘Drop Shot’ which is a full English, I think? Really, every single thing was perfection. I’m disgusted that we wasted three whole breakfasts of our stay at other establishments. My thanks and admiration to whomever chose the produce, and certainly to the chef. Not to mention the lovely servers, who were everywhere all at once but never intrusive, which is a lot harder than it’s supposed to be. We’re ’over Beyond’ a couple times a year, and without doubt; our breakfasts are sorted forever. Don’t wait to visit Drop Shot; make an absolute point of it! ❤️”
