As moneysavingexpert says council service centres aren't able to carry out repairs, only do the MOT test so there isn't any incentive to find faults with the car. It's about £60 which is about double the cost of garages near me, but probably closer to the real cost of the test.”

“Highly recommend Dave (Chigwell Servicing Centre). My Hyundai Ioniq failed its MOT at Hyundai service centre for faulty brakes which resulted in a quote of around £3000 to repair (I was advised that the ABS pump needed replacing). I called Chigwell Servicing Centre and Dave was so helpful and clearly did not want to be influenced by Hyundai’s recommendation and booked me in the next day to do his own diagnostic assessment. He was super knowledgeable and patient with explaining the basics of how brakes in a hybrid works and why he did not believe there was anything wrong with the car. His guy did the MOT and indeed there was nothing wrong with the car because the car passed MOT!. I’m so grateful that I met Dave and his team. Truly a rare find in the world of servicing garages/mechanics. Thank you Dave!”
