“Great pub with excellent range. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The lady who runs the pub is an exceptional host, who makes everyone feel very welcome and at home. Food is excellent - the roasts especially. The roasts are flavoursome, well seasoned, plentiful and excellent value for money. I can't recommend enough. Prawn cocktail was also gorgeous. Dog friendly too.”

“Here, just in the centre of the village of Downe, we have the most lovely country pub you can imagine, with a good range of real ales, an amazing garden out back with several different areas, a delicious and affordable food menu, and just a short walk away from Charles Darwin's house. What more could you want. It's situated right next door to the village church, which is where the hourly TfL bus 146 from Bromley terminates, and the R8 also calls. Definitely worthy of a visit in itself.”

“The Thai kitchen here is first class. The pub is also very nice for a drink or two. But the Thai food is legit, been several times and it's often full, and even more encouraging - a LOT of Thai people eat there. One of the best Thai restaurants in London at the moment.”

“This hotel/pub it was a nice random place that surprised us with a delicious burger and a nice kind of relaxing atmosphere. Kind of because it is by the main road, but relaxing because it was sunny, you can see Thames river over the road and enjoy a pint and some food. The staff was friendly, quite helpful, and polite even they were massively understaffed and they were running all over. The management should do their job better and not exploy their people, but ot might be the exception as it was a sunny day and lots of people joined us so this time I will not consider this in my review. We will update it if we return, and it will be a similar situation. Parking is available on the back of the hotel or on the side streets, but with limited access.”

“I wish I had more stars to give ⭐. Hands down my favourite spot in North London, not only because they have the best skinny fries! Since their refresh (new manager, new bar staff, swanky secret lounge area) a few months ago, the whole vibe at the BFS has completely transformed. What really stands out is that the new manager (James) seems to really know his stuff, and has brought together a great team - the staff are super friendly, incredibly efficient yet easygoing, and they seem to know everyone's name and order, which is rare. Special shout out to Other James who is basically a mind-reader and starts pouring my rose as I'm walking through the door, and Izzy who is quite possibly the cheeriest person in East Finchley. An extra ⭐ goes to Otto, who looked after my rowdy bunch of Book Club Mums at our Christmas party. How he smoothly navigated an assortment of allergies and dietary requirements without breaking a sweat is beyond me. Bonus star for bringing extra gravy before we even thought to ask. P.S. the food is delicious. my go-to is the korean fried chicken.”
