“First time shopping at Loake. Came in with my partner for a pair of shoes for my wedding. We were served by a lovely gentleman, Ishti who was very helpful and showed us different designs that would work well with my suit. He took his time with us and made sure we were happy with our choice and the size. Great shop.”

“I went into Cheaney’s Bow Lane shop with the intention of just trying a few shoes and shopping around. Before I knew it, my my fairly weathered brogues which I had removed to try on a pair of smart Alfreds were whisked away, polished and returned looking like new. Apparently this is part of the service as explained by Carina. In the meantime, Jack took time to find the perfect fit from the many variants available and I walked out with my new shoes a satisfied customer. I cannot recommend this store highly enough. Service like this is from a bygone era.”

“Had such an incredible experience here. I've been looking at Crockett & Jones for a long time and finally got to go to London with my Dad. Nataliia went above and beyond to provide friendly customer service, give helpful advice & suggestions, and answer any questions we had. The shoes were the perfect fit, and I could not be happier! We'll be returning again soon and certainly looking forward to it. The types of leather, color, and style of shoes are unmatched. Iconic shoes and impeccable service!”

“I want to thank all the staff at Joseph Cheaney & Sons for their wonderful service. The shoes are of the highest quality. The service is friendly with a smile and a welcoming kindness. I've been lucky enough to visit the factory location in Desborough, Northamptonshire, and the Jermyn St & New Bond St locations in London. In particular, I'd like to thank Barry, Julian and Ian. They are so wonderful and friendly. They do not just treat you as a customer. They take the time to have a lovely chat with you, talk about the process of making Goodyear welted shoes and the history of heritage shoe making in Northampton. Lovely lovely people.”

    James Taylor & Son

    ★★★☆☆ 3.6

“Our son wears an orthotic ankle/leg brace after a spinal injury which means he has foot drop, and we approached James Taylor as we had heard that bespoke shoes could make a big difference to walking comfort. We live in New Zealand but made sure to make an appointment when we visited the UK - over five years ago now - and James Taylor measured and created lasts with unbelievable professionalism and accuracy. Their knowledge, attitude and care with such a very specific and specialist fitting was impressive but we were still apprehensive, given the cost. The process took a long time, over a year I think from start to finish (this was over Covid so that impacted) but when the boots were finally shipped to us, our son found that they were perfectly fitted and supportive enough that he no longer needed to wear his brace. This has made a huge positive difference to both his comfort and gait. He has twice since had the shoes resoled, each time with exemplary professionalism and care. Our son was working from home but is now in the office more, so the shoes are receiving more use; he has other shoes but these are just so much better, he wears them all the time. Consequently he is now contemplating buying a second pair and aims to do so in the very near future: they are expensive, but they're also an investment for life and nothing else compares. I can't really understand the negative reviews. Our experience could not have been more different: we are beyond delighted with the service and quality of the product.”
