Authentic style in Manchester

“Rice and Three Curries £8! I have been to quite a few Rice & 3 spots around Manchester and this takes the number 1 spot. Firstly it gets 5 / 5 on the food hygiene rating and has been around for 30 years. Really convenient location for Northern Quarter and Picadilly area and although there are only four tables in the restaurant when we went at lunchtime there was one available and most people take the food away with them. Really generous portion size and everything is made fresh order, so although it does take a little bit longer to serve the food, you know everything is cooked fresh”

“This was an amazing find. It was a typically rainy Saturday afternoon in Bury and me, my partner and our baby daughter were seeking refuge and a bite to eat. We were greeted with great hospitality and swift service. The baby was hungry so we ordered her something with the drinks. We had calamari and caprese and from the first bite of calamari I knew we had made a great choice. We then shared the mixed fish platter which was absolutely delicious. Best Italian I have been to in a very long time. This place needs to be frequented!”

“Very tasty food, well condimented, fast table service. Monday lunch time almost no customers, the shopping centre was so quiet, we enjoyed that. First time in Arndale shopping centre and Doner Shack, we enjoyed the food. The doner/bread nice and crunchy on the outside, fair portion, but when we got the fries kebab that was like a 2 people portion, huge and very tasty.”

“Great place, great atmosphere. Always call in now when on a night out in Ashton, and it never disappoints! Great tunes, karaoke (some good and bad!), everyone's always friendly and always have a laugh when in there, cheap beers and shots what else do you need? Would highly recommend.”

“I have used Harrington and Hallworth jeweller's for many years and the service and product range has always been consistently of a high quality. I called yesterday to have a new bracelet fitted to my watch and as I waited I had the pleasure to observe the gentle banter between the employees / owners/ customers. It was was actually enjoyable. Well done on not only providing a great service but for also, appearing to be, a great place to work. Highly recommended.”

“Haven’t been here for a good few years. Used to go regularly but got bored of the flavours and prices went up. Went today as we were craving for authentic halal Chinese food. The food was amazing. From the squid to the prawn balls. The egg fried was nice. The best had to be the roast duck in black bean sauce. The flavours were deliges and the duck tasted good. The complimentary prawn crackers were a good touch. Will be definitely coming here again soon.”

“Park on the side street, this place is small with two tables so if you’re coming with a big crew you maybe need to stand up and eat, the music is ok but the volume definitely needs notching down a bit. Me and two friends came and ordered the kings platter which came with dirty fries, wings, chicken breast, zinger burgers and more. The star of the show was the zinger burger and dirty fries which was 9/10 so definitely try them. A lil arcade machine in the corner for your pleasure to reminisce old times. Payment via cash or contactless and they also do milkshakes well. The owner is very passionate about the business and he has a team of ladies working behind and everything seems to work seamlessly. I will go again cuz I enjoyed the zinger burger and dirty fries.”

“Pleasantly surprised by our visit. We were a party of 5 (3 generations) having 2 or 3 courses each and everyone enjoyed their food. I particularly loved my fajitas and those who didn't like spicy food were well catered for (eg seabass). Staff were great, correctly reading our group dynamics, to add to the party atmosphere.”

“This review is based on 1 particular meal, customer service, food quality and packaging in comparison to other takeaways I’ve been to in Manchester and London… I don’t usually give reviews unless I’ve been to a place on a number of occasions because sometimes like everyone else, we have bad days therefore, food or service might not be as consistent. However, fortunately to say - Heng Seng have been consistent over the years I have been going there. My review is based on the vegetable chow mien and chicken (halal) chow mien dishes alongside salt & pepper chips and prawn crackers (had other stuff too but I’m comparing to other takeaways). - Over the course of 5 years, me and my partner fell in love with their vegetable chow mien. Tonight, the chicken (halal) chow mien took that spot. Their chow mien is BANGING! Full of flavour, generous on the portion size and not just full of noodles (like some places). It’s not heavy on oil, doesn’t leave you feeling unhealthy or groggy - salt and pepper chips: again, good size, lots of flavour and not too much salt - prawn crackers: these are just right. A lot of places we’ve been to either tastes too fish or are too oily - so hands down, Heng Seng smashed it. We’ve always ordered our food then collected. Never had to wait long and customer service was always exceptional and first class. I’m not a food critic btw - I just know my flavours, oil and spices cos I’m an Asian! Plus I travel a lot. In summary, really impressed with this takeaway.”
