Extraction in Manchester

“First of all, sorry if this review is a little bit long-winded as I struggle to find the words to properly express what I’m wanting to say but honestly I cannot at all find the words to say how much finding this practice means to me or how truly & utterly grateful I am to all of the staff here. For context - and as horrible as I know this sounds - but I’m 30y/o & have (had) never seen a dentist. Although I have always wanted to more than anything, I have a lifelong phobia & have always been to scared to the point which I would have to turn the TV over or couldn’t even see a picture of a dentist in a magazine or anything like that. I have tried to do something a few times over the years, like I have contacted a few places but have never been able to find anything suitable as all said (rightly so, but not this straightforward for me) that they would have to see me before they can even start to help or put anything in place towards getting me sorted. But then I contacted Kingsway Dental Care & honestly couldn’t find the way to thank them enough for all they have done & continue to do for me. My initial contact by e-mail was picked up by the practice manager Gemma. Gemma had no hesitation at all in taking my situation full on board & being so accepting & supportive of me. Gemma took the time to slowly & steadily walk through with me everything involved in a first appointment bit-by-bit, never overwhelming me or giving me too much to handle. For example, my first visit was just meeting Gemma outside the building at first as I couldn’t even walk in, then next time we sat in the waiting area & had a chat & met Jeanette the receptionist who was really nice & always very friendly, welcoming & has a smile on her face. Then the time after Gemma showed me some the items that would be used like a mirror. Things were really slow & steady & taken entirely at my own pace - which I am so very grateful for but also feel a bit guilty about as Gemma is working but spending so much time just concentrating on just me to help me get through & deal with this like I was the only thing that mattered. Gemma has also been really good while building up also as she used to be a nurse so if I had any problems with my mouth or routine she was able to advise & give me information & instructions & feedback & stuff. So anyway, after all that work from Gemma - maybe around 6mth or so just talking about things & preparing me to be fully ready & confident - I finally managed to have my first ever check up today where the dentist was able to successfully look in & checked my condition for the first time. I was seen by Steena & Hannah but Gemma even stayed with me during it to help & support me through it and, like Gemma, could genuinely not have met nicer, more lovely people or anyone more accepting. It didn’t matter to anyone here at Kingsway that I’d neglected myself for so long & let my fear get this out of control or anything, they just treated me as normal without any kind of judgement at all & like they had all been my best friends for 30-years, not some disgusting person who had gone to them after so long & expecting them to sort out all of my issues. Steena was really gentle with me, waking me through like Gemma had done, gave me breaks & checked I was ok with each step. Hannah was amazing too & so encouraging & supporting. I’m sorry to all of the team that it took so long for me just in a check appointment as I know I was given & had to take a lot of regular breaks throughout as we went. I know that I still have a long way to get through fully but I feel genuinely confident in all of the team here & much less worried than I have ever been & am actually now looking forward to seeing everyone again at my next visit which I never thought I would be able to do in my entire life. I never thought I could ever do this & know that I couldn’t have without you’s, I owe it all to all of the team here. Honestly I am truly grateful & thankful & indebted to everyone here at Kingway Dental Care. Thankyou all so, so much! :)”

“Amazing hygienist team!! 8 weeks ago I went to see Caroline, I had lots of inflammation, tartar and excessive bleeding from my gums. I was given a thorough explanation of what was happening and actions to take. Caroline was very clear and obviously loved her job, I was told if I did what she advised we would clear up the issues. 8 week follow up and I was given star pupil status! I did what Caroline told me, there is now no bleeding, my gums are in great condition, next hygienist appointment in 6 months!! I cannot thank Caroline and the team enough. They made me feel very comfortable. Would highly recommend.”

“I have been a patient at this practice for approximately 25 years (along with my three children). I started out as a nervous patient but that is, happily, a thing of the past! In fact, I look forward to my appointments - and so do my, now adult, children - thanks to the care we received here. I am guilty of forgetting an appointment and having to cancel at short-notice and have never encountered an issue or been made to feel guilty. I have always been treated with respect and understanding (mind you, I’m always polite and never entitled). Staff are always polite, respectful and friendly and are great communicators. In summary, I love my dental practice and really appreciate them!”

Always a friendly face, and his calm and easy demeanour makes you feel relaxed, especially in a situation that for many people is very stressful. It feels like he genuinely takes an interest in his dental patients and in getting to know their personal circumstances. That attention to detail is unusual in many lines of work, so to find it someone who you know must see 1000s of patients and mouths in between your 6 monthly visits makes you feel like you are getting an exceptional service.”

“The care that Sam and the rest of the staff have shown my husband is absolutely second to none!! He is severely disabled and nothing is too much trouble for the practice. He has recently had to have a series of appointments to solve a dental problem and every single appointment has been handled with utmost care, making my husband as comfortable as possible and treating him with the dignity that he deserves. The building, although not modern, is wheelchair accessible and all the staff are so helpful.”

“I have had a genuine fear of the dentist since being a small child. I can honestly say Sarah, who I have seen several times now, has made me feel so reassured and at ease. I am not the easiest patient but I've even managed to have an extraction out there, rather than going to the hospital under a general anaesthetic, as I have done in previous years. I don't know the name of her dental assistant but together they are fantastic and couldn't be happier with this practice.”

“Been going for years and never needed any serious work doing (which is usually a good sign). Recently I had a Wisdom Tooth removed and it was painless and quick. The dental practice is always very well maintained and the staff are efficient. Also, the location is easily accessible by train or bus, and there is parking available.”

“Bit late as it was a couple of yrs ago after being butchered by my own dentist. Tried googling as I’ve got the same problem again. (What happened last time - I needed a tooth extraction and due to past experience the dentist I had before always dressed any extractions due to my blood not clotting well. She told me to tell any other dentists in the future so when she left & a new lady started & I needed another extraction I told her n she accused me of trying to tell her how to do her job! She didn’t dress it. Within an hour of leaving I was back in the chair n she put more pain injections to the point my mouth was that swollen my I could hardly breathe. She stocked me up then she left her shift. I was in agony all night! Next day I got an emergency appointment here as mine was closed. The lady here that treated was going mad at the state of me. She cleaned me up, DRESSED the area and within mins the pain started getting better! Never seen the new one from my own dentist again (think she was sacked) - ffward to today. Had another extraction on thurs by new male, I am in a lot of pain, huge lump on side of my face. Took over 18hrs for bleeding to stop despite him putting some type of brown fibre stuff inside. He split my gums a few mm in 5 places & split my lip during extraction. (I’ve had 7 pulled up to now due to complications with health n no fault of my own) so I’m gunna ring these on Monday n hopefully they will look after me as good as last time. (The woman who helped last time was romanian and was absolutely LOVELY with me & very very gentle x”

“I had very bad experience in the past with my ex dentist and when I went to this dental practice I realized that their was a big difference between the two practices. Everyone in phoenix practice was nice and helpful. The dentist himself was brilliant, very professional, and polite. I had the best dental care in my life with this dentist which made me feel very well looked after. I would recommend this practice to anybody who needs a good dentist.
