“Went to the cafe twice— it was that good. The pancakes were to die for for breakfast. Burger I had was very tasty, and not at all dry. Coffee and tea served were both astounding, and the full breakfast I had on my second visit was very delicious. To top it all, the service was top-notch. They were accommodating and were engaging with us kindly. A must visit if you’re around Royal Mile!”

We only ordered drinks and some chips to eat outside (17.08.24 about 15:25) and we were served quickly. Chips were brought out to the table for us outside so we didn’t need to wait for them. Will definitely go back - the burgers that the chef was cooking looked DELICIOUS and so did the chicken wings that we saw them taking out!”

“A really lovely spot. Really cozy atmosphere and lots of seating. My mum and I came here for a coffee/light bite and were very pleasantly surprised with how much choice there was. She had a long black (which was the perfect size) and the spinach & feta borek, which she said was “the nicest thing I’ve ever eaten”. I had an almond bakewell slice and an oat-based matcha latte (which was the best I’ve had to date)! The service was great — when we arrived they were fairly busy with breakfasts (it’s obviously well loved by the locals) so they communicated this to us, and we were also informed when our food was up next. 10/10 would eat here again.”

“An afternoon where I am left feeling very proud of my ex colleagues. I visited Rich Beeby and Roxanne James to explore their new venture on Barrack Road. Cafe 1850 unsurprisingly oozes energy, ambition and wonderful customer service as this was at the core of their approach in our days working alongside each other at Royal and Derngate and Northampton Filmhouse. This lovely cafe was created virtually from scratch. Spotless and modern with a lovely vibe. It is a lovely little setting next to the Cathedral and is only 15 minutes walk from the town centre with good parking. I love a good homemade soup and the tomato soup with cheese toasties worked a treat. Still had room for a Lemon drizzle cake that was moist in texture and saturated with flavour. There are some great ideas being floated for special evening promotions. Well done Rich & Roxanne. I am proud of you. *****Update****** Visit 31/5/25 Afternoon Tea for my partner and I.
