“What a lovely place this was. The service was exceptional. The server brought out the wine which we tasted before she poured full glasses and she placed the serviette on our laps. I service I havent received for years. The food was glorious,hot fresh and tasty. I couldn't fault it. If we lived here we would be in here all the time.”

“Right, this place needs to be on your radar if you're looking for a brilliant curry and mixed grill. The venue is fantastic and well presented. The Desi Lamb was devine. I will be coming again with the whole family. This place is seriously underrated. Just a great night of food and football. The Naan breads are delicious. A great night had by us all.”

“Calif Bar is good. They have some quite delicious meals as shown on the menu uploaded. Had their Jollof rice and beef then their poundo yam and egusi soup and they both tasted really nice. The food quantity and quality are also quite alright.”

“70th birthday treat from my grandson Nathan. Food was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Put icing on the cake meeting a Wolves legend Steve Bull. Shame the result wasn't what we wanted, a defeat to Bournmouth.”

“Had Sunday roast platter lunch with my family and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The service was superb with a warm, friendly welcome and undivided attention throughout - nothing was too much trouble. The timing of the meals was spot-on and the food was incredible - good-sized portions, very flavoursome, presented well and overall delicious. It was good value for money too and worth every penny and more. Will definitely be returning for another visit. Highly recommended”

“Lovely old boozer with some modern fittings. Good selection of real ales and ciders. Bar staff a little surly but very efficient. Rough and ready just like the Black Country. Didn’t eat on this visit but the cobs are great!”

“Is this the best pub in Wolvo for real ale drinkers. Think 9 pumps on one had gone. Luckilly these update Real Ale Finder, albeit may be 4 days out was glad to see what could be described as packed almost solid pre 10pm. First off Attic Brewing Midnight followed by a real gem Magpie Brewing Ten For Bliss awesome. Its a place i would be happy to go up town on my own and venture in. Staff seem great along with the clientel it attracts, whats not to like plus they dont take the p on prices. This will be a regular in future 5 mile away over the local GK pub 150 yards away.”

“Booked Gilbert's for an upcoming family function, venue clean and well kept, staff friendly and accommodating, outdoor seating by entrance, easy parking access to the side of the building. Would recommend for private hire, just book in good time as they get booked up fast.”

“I have no idea why we have never been here before service was excellent all of the staff are lovely, prices are amazing and their chips are proper homemade chips none of that oven muck you find in all the other pubs. Absolutely fantastic and we will be back again to have a game of pool and to relax in the beer garden.”

“Visited today first time in years, decent prices, good service, mixed bag of regulars who appeared to be looking out for each other. Bar staff friendly and efficient never waited long to be served. Warm and comfortable even sitting near the main entrance. It's definitely an old time pub and although it's been through various changes since I first drank in there it remains an old time pub. A firm competitor for whetherspoons.”

“Great boozer, brilliant private room upstairs for events, drinks are very reasonably priced and all the staff are friendly and helpful. Super quirky place with interesting bits and bobs everywhere you look. The smoking area is brilliant too, even the toilets are cool as hell.”

“We recently booked a room with Stephen at the Whimsey, for a family gathering after our mother's funeral service, with the buriel just around the corner at Willenhall Lawn Cemetery. Stephen was so understanding to our situation and spoke with us a few times prior to check exactly what we would like. The Whimsey supplied all the catering which consisted of soup & sandwiches, curry & rice, also tea & coffee, at a very reasonable price. We had the whole pub to ourselves from 1-3pm, until he opened, however we could stay as long as we liked. We would like to thank Stephen and all at the Whimsey for making this day so special. We totally recommend this venue for any family events”
