“I stopped over for some food, and was pleasantly surprised. The food was really good and authentic. The service was top class. There may be a bit of a wait but it's worth it as all good things need time to be made well. I recommend this either for proper food or for coffee.”

    Rioni Pizza Cafe

    ★★★★☆ 4.4

“Bear with me here because this is a lengthy review. I've been ordering from here on and off for a couple of years. This restaurant has always been a bit pricier than several others nearby BUT food was always worth it - fries were 'clean' and crispy, burgers had loads of salad, pizza was always loaded etc. Kebabs were always a little small in comparison to other places though, and this is the only thing I didn't really order kebabs from here. About a year ago we noticed a change - fries were browner and greasier (not inedible though), the cheeseburger burgers had lowered in quality and they started put less salad on, pizzas didn't taste as fresh and lacked meat toppings. I imagined they'd changed owners, as many takeaways do every 12 months. So we stopped ordering for a while. I'm a Deliveroo/UberEats driver and ended up collecting a few orders from here, and from speaking to the boss man I got the idea that they were struggling a bit - with prices, the terrible service from Uber/Deliveroo affecting reputation, lack of delivery drivers etc., and were trying to cut costs - understandable. But they'd increased prices AND lowered quality so it's also understandable why less people were ordering, even where Uber/Deliveroo weren't the problem. So now I knew they hadn't changed hands, I wanted to support them again and I've been ordering now and then over the last several months. Although prices are still higher than most other takeaways, their pizzas are back to their original quality and are still the best for miles around - you can tell a good pizza by how heavy it is in the box btw. Dough tastes fresh every time, and not loaded with salt to boost flavour like many other 'cheap' takeaways. They're not as generous with cheese as they used to be but other toppings are plentiful and fresh. Strangely, they do load up the tomato sauce base, maybe they could save money by putting less base sauce on? However, cheeseburgers are still not that great and salad was scarce last time I ordered one. However - because I was avoiding their cheeseburgers, I tried both doner burger and kebab and chips recently and was surprised at how good they were for the price, when comparing to their cheeseburger! The kebab burger (and likewise the chicken meat and chips) was far better value for money, which doesn't make sense - I'd have thought kebab meat would cost more to buy and prepare than frozen burgers! I'd happily pay a couple of £ more for the chicken kebab burger and chips than a cheeseburger and chips - as long as they don't start putting less meat on. I don't like their doner meat as it's always dry, but that's just my opinion, I know others like it like that whereas I like it thick and juicy. One thing that hasn't changed in the last couple of years is the BBQ wings! Someone else has complained that the skin was like the chicken had been boiled, maybe they expected crispy wings like a lot of pop-up smash burger joints are throwing out now - terrible quality being hidden with dollops of sauce. These BBQ wings are proper wings, not the tiny winglets other places sell for much more money. The BBQ coating is sticky and definitely calls for finger linking after devouring a portion. I do wish they would change the oil for their fries more often. I like my fries light and crispy, how they used to do them, not brown and tasting of other things cooked in the same oil pan. If the restaurant is reading this, and judging by another review the restaurant does read these reviews, I'm not 'complaining'.”

“Had Sunday roast platter lunch with my family and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The service was superb with a warm, friendly welcome and undivided attention throughout - nothing was too much trouble. The timing of the meals was spot-on and the food was incredible - good-sized portions, very flavoursome, presented well and overall delicious. It was good value for money too and worth every penny and more. Will definitely be returning for another visit. Highly recommended”
