“Absolutely fantastic pub. Owners Sue and Joe are a breath of fresh air couldn’t ask for nicer people. All workers are very polite and Lisa is top notch , it’s always a barrel of laughs in there and I couldn’t think of anywhere better to go on a weekend for a good pint of John smiths. Ricky”
“Called with like minded friends out carriage driving. Only in for a couple of beers whilst the horses cooled down”
“Excellent Brazilian cuisine with stunning views. The food was authentic and flavorful, and the service was attentive. A great spot for both business and leisure dining.”
“We had a great stay and a great meal that evening. Can't fault anything. Lovely big spacious room with great views and a really comfortable bed. Fantastic meal in a lovely environment in the restaurant. And all of the staff we met were very helpful and friendly.”
“Just had my daughters 50th party today, although we had our own caterers, they were so accommodating, lovely, and made us all so welcome, thank you so much. Xxx”
“So I've been here a few times as someone who doesn't live in Brighouse. Brighouse is an underestimated town and nowhere typifies the great attitude of the local populous more than this pub. Friendly,. Welcoming and several rooms with set functions like sport and music. If you happen to know a pub that is cold and unwelcoming show them this place. THIS is how a pub should be run.”
“Nice hidden gem in Bradford. Friendly.locals. spacious bar, decent tv function room.for watching sports.”
“Fantastic place to go for a family christmas meal, we went yesterday (14th December 2025) for the lunch with Santa for the 2nd year running and ALL of the staff were brilliant! The food was gorgeous and so tasty!”
“I had a buffet breakfast with my dad which was really good, everything was warm and cooked perfectly. Poppy came to speak to us to ask how everything was, was very friendly and made the visit a little bit more special”
“24/05/25: 21/07/23: back again. Pub stop number 6 on our Huddersfield Ale Trail. Discrete outside area [photo update] 16/06/23: fantastic place. Good selection of craft ale. Art Deco styling inside. Warm, friendly and welcoming pub. Chilled out vibes! A lovely little find! Dog friendly.”
“Nice and clean restaurant with parking in the back. The fish was smaller than I remembered but tasted delicious and the chips are divine. Had to wait a long while for my dessert order. The desert I had was apple crumble with custard but the custard was watery and tasteless.”
“Absolutely delicious food and cosy atmosphere!! I've eaten here about 5-6 times over the past 2 years and each and every time the food has been faultless. People who know me know I wouldn't say that if I didn't mean it. I went last night as I heard they'd had a menu change and it did not disappoint. We had the Peppered Chicken and Chicken Parmesan, both served with an abundance of yummy side dishes (fries, roast new potatoes, dressed salad and seasonal vegetables). The warm cookie dessert is amazing. I could eat it just on its own with a lovely coffee (which they also do) i.e without the sauce or ice cream. It's everything you want in a cookie. Crunchy on the outside and gooey in the middle. They've had all their chairs reupholstered recently so it's looking a lot smarter than before making the vibe extra cosy. If you're planning a visit, make sure you book not to be disappointed as it does get very busy for food. Great selection of drinks too. 10/10”
“Had a lovely meal at the Duke of York. We ordered the fish & chips and scampi & chips — both came in really generous portions and were cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. There was a bit of a delay with the food due to the chef being unwell, but the team handled it really well — we were even offered free drinks while we waited, which was a lovely gesture. A special mention to Ellie, the manager, who was especially kind and made sure we were looked after.”
“When i went in at 2.45pm on a Wednesday afternoon thought why is there only one customer in. It had a atmosphere of a transport café so we nearly walked out. Fortunately the owner (I think) came in and we asked her several questions to which all the answers were favorable. So we ordered and must say the food was above average cooked fresh and exactly how we had requested it for 4 people including drinks it was £21 excellent. We have a dog with us and i left the main party to sit outside with him. I was informed that on my next visit if it was hot to bring him in. What a loverly lady we will certainly go back.”
“Tried one of the pizza deals it did not disappoint.”

“Had a fantastic calzone from Dario's Pizza in Sowerby Bridge centre tonight! It was absolutely packed with meat and so tasty. At just £9, it's seriously good value for money. Highly recommend!”
“Came to Halifax for the day from a week's holiday in Hebden Bridge. Came for late lunch/early dinner and was pretty empty. A few of our party went for the 2 courses for £18 which was good value. We had the mozzarella sticks which are always a crowd pleaser. The beef tacos were really tasty with great crunch from the pomegranate seeds - a lot more filling than expected. The chicken fajitas were also full of flavour. Good pints of Sam Adams. We had a gluten free member and the staff were extremely accommodating (bringing the manager over to take their order specifically felt slightly too much but we understand why). Overall a really great meal, despite no tequila and it feeling like there was an earthquake every 5 mins (assuming the cinema was the culprit!).”
“Dear. Bowling Green Oltey, it's been a few years now, coming to weather spoon bowling green pub, 2-3times a week. “Lovely staff and food was nice considering how busy it was. It was a little slow on service with food coming out however bartender/waitress Kayleigh and Donna made amazing cocktails and were helpful and polite whilst we were waiting and came to check on us multiple times”
“It's no longer called the market tavern. This place has been modernised to very high and trendy standards. Yet drinks remain reasonable”
