“Our son moved from his secondary school and joined SML College in year 8. It was the best decision we made, he is happy and thriving in the new environment, inspired to learn and pursue his interests with a lot of support and opportunities. He loves the community and excited about going to school every single day, which is a great change from attending his mainstream secondary school. Changing schools has transformed his school life, learning experience, social life and consequently our home life and having a happy and thriving child is worth every effort.”

“UOB building for the arts and moving image. Lecture theatre's , work and social spaces with room to relax with friends old and new. Graduate art shows are well worth the visit for the high quality work on display.”

“It's not a bad college. The staff (both teaching staff and support staff) definitely care about the outcomes of their students. There's a nice vibe about it, and students seem to get on with each other nicely. A great library with a wide selection of services, books, printing and borrowing of laptops. The only criticism I would have would probably be over communication. Staff can be hard to contact at times as emails often don't get responded to. But that is my only criticism. There is a cafe and a refectory that offers a free breakfast to students, this was something I took advantage of when I was there.”

“Both our very different sons had extremely positive experiences with Varndean. The admissions team were able to spot potential with 1 son's lower than ideal entry grades. 3 years later he starts Uni next month where each year 1300 students apply for 105 places. Our other son completes his 4 year degree next summer which was made possible due to Varndean's staff & their dogged focus on his achievements. Their support & vision eased square pegs into round holes. Of course the boys did the work but with the right guidance doors opened.”

“I have no complaints, only lots of positive things to say: The retake department are extremely helpful and friendly, They can help you if you're struggling with something. If you're looking to do IT, I CANNOT recommend it enough! It is SO good AND you get taught a lot of things! Only being at college for a few weeks has made me be the happiest in YEARS! I cannot recommend this college enough! It is AMAZING!!!”

“I just completed my AM2E electrical assessment at the college last week. Quick and easy to get to and had plenty of parking for 50p a day. From my first phone call to the end of my course I found ALL the staff professional and friendly. Highly recommended.”

“Went and done my tig welding course and it was a really great experience! The staff are really friendly, helpful and understanding. The food at lunch was good quality and a great price. The equipment was at a high quality standard so you can benefit from understanding on how they work! Would definitely recommend!”

“The new extension project is now completed. Students start to return to the school for COVID-19 test before going to the normal school life. Their neighbour, Tucked Away is still here to provide services to the students and teachers. Hopefully, everything will resume to normal after 12th April.”

“Great school just finished year 11 and the teachers where very helpful.They helped me work to the best of my ability.The bullying system works well as not many of my friends where ever bullied and if they where then my head of year would sort it out .Most teachers are patient and work at pace of the class and also allow after school help for the students who struggle.The only reason I didn't go to sixth form was because they do not offer the subject I was looking for but overall great school (I do believe that it is stupid how students are not aloud to wear coats on school premises)”
