“There was definitely an olde feel to this pub as we walked in, ducking heads as advised to avoid the low entrance and stepping into a comfortable and pleasant environment. It was full for a lunchtime, always a good sign. We were pointed to a board full of daily special dishes and another board showing the selection of pies before being taken to our table. The menu had a good range of options, including a number of vegetarian and fish dishes, and some pub favourites (I understand the liver and bacon is very popular!). Service was friendly and not too slow, although we didn’t feel rushed either. The food we ordered was excellent and there was plenty of it, so much so we couldn’t manage dessert, which was a shame as they looked lovely too. We will definitely be returning.”

“So pleasantly surprised by this gem. We were looking for brunch after going swimming nearby (we’re not from the area) Picked this place, was easy to park , food was really quick. Food tasted lovely and the freak shakes and coffee was lovely. All staff were really friendly we will definitely be back when in the area”

“Really great pub. The new landlady Max is always very friendly and warm, they have darts and live sports, the drinks are a reasonable price and the locals are accepting to all. Nice cozy fire and outdoor heaters on cold nights. I recommend this pub for either a couple of drinks with the dog or an evening with friends.”

“Absolute hidden gem, we decided to stop for something to eat and by surprise they do a carvery! It was absolutely amazing and the service was outstanding. This place truly is a treasure of what a traditional pub should be. Will stop again when we are in the area next.”

“I'm always wary of posting about places I know, the Moorend is my local, I know it well, I might be accused of bias. However, my wife and I ate here this evening. My wife had the Taiwanese prawn curry, she finished it all, an empty plate, a remarkable thing. I had the pulled lamb shepherd's pie with seasonal veg, I also finished it, another empty plate. Both were hot, full of flavour and delicious. I had sticky Toffee pudding for desert, I was told I couldn't lick my plate. My wife had an enormous 'mini' Eton mess. Another empty dish. An amazing evening. Service was attentive and exemplary, despite them being busy. Staff were were friendly and responsive. Price was moderate given the size of our portions, but I would have gladly paid more for the meal, it was that good. All tables were taken so I suggest booking on a busy event day and aways on a Sunday. There's is a car park at the back, and a garden for a Sunny day. Maybe I'll see you in there...”

“Re opened under new owners... Brilliant local people keeping a good local traditional pub going... Support these local business's or lose them... A proper traditional pub, how they should be good beer, good cider and a great atmosphere... Nice pub garden as well”

“Staff are so friendly and nice particularly Kirsty who was so kind and helpful whilst also being really hard working. I used to work for Costa so know the job isn't easy but this costa has the best atmosphere of any I've ever been too, will definitely return. Thank you so much again Kirsty!”
