“Well what an absolute joy! We had a birthday party for my 5 year old boy yesterday and Sam hosted what Jake keeps saying was ‘the best day ever. My birthday was the best’. Start to finish he had all of the children and us adults laughing and relaxed. Sam is hilarious and super natural with the kids. He built rapport immediately and like all of the best teachers still held the attention and respect of the children when they descended in to boy humour delirium mid safety talk. The day was very well planned we did den building day. The marshmallows around the fire were a hit and the kids were all given the confidence to participate and shout answers to questions without fear of being wrong…then when they were wrong Sam’s brilliant sense of humour meant we could all safely giggle along with the children without upsetting anyone. I’m sure we will be back again for many more birthdays from Jake’s friends who came and loved it. And we will definitely be back again for our own days in future too. Thank you for giving my boy the best day ever.”

“We are truly delighted with our Konk dining table. We spent a lot of time making sure we personalised our quote to ensure we got the sort of live edge we were after. While it’s worth noting that Konk cannot guarantee the exact live edge look you’ll get before the wood is cut, they did a magnificent job on our request and perfectly delivered what we had envisioned. We now have a gorgeous live edge character oak table in dark oak finish and we could not love it more. It feels substantial and like it will last us a lifetime. For other buyers, just do your research, state clearly what you’re after when designing your quote AND be open to the fact that every piece of wood is different and this is not ikea furniture so every piece will be unique and that element of uncertainty is part of the process. Wood has knots and your piece likely will. If you don’t like knots perhaps character oak isn’t for you. In our case, I feel like the workshop really took into account what we were hoping for and delivered superbly. The construction is lovely and the finish is impeccable. I can only recommend!”

“Fantastic find. I had two alcoves that were wasted space and I could find nothing to fit them until I found their website. They are busy, so expect a wait, but that means they must be doing something right! I chatted with Dave Simmonds who was technically top notch and helped me choose the wood I wanted, explaining the pros and cons. He even sent me photos of the panel he was going to cut from to ensure it would be ok. He informed me that my waney wood pieces would be challenging my size, but he could join smaller pieces, which hardly showed unless you knew. He also cut the wood to within 1-2 mm and was happy to cut it wonky to fit my alcove, but fortunately it was square enough. . This was my second dealings with them for a similar set up that was on the right hand side of the fireplace. First time, delivery timing was a bit restrictive, but has improved no end now they are using a new carrier with time slots etc. For the wood I was charged ~£1000 for each set of shelves and I thought that was reasonable, given the quality, service and getting what I wanted I chose oak - buyer beware that its tougher than the general wood from B&Q, but great to work with - don't even think about using an electric plane or non-wood specific drills! They also accurately cut the doors and sides for me to my chosen dimensions. All I had to do was a bit of trimming with a circular saw, drilling and varnish to bring out the gorgeous colour. I made the shelves float on the walls, by making the shelves sit on screws, hidden by routing the sides, even made the top slide in and out on the screws to access the wires hidden behind the false back.”

“Lovely B & B located on a beautiful, centrally located street in Bath. We enjoyed three nights at the Windsor and the highlights were its great location close to the Abbey, shopping and restaurants; the delicious and filling daily breakfasts but, most of all the amazing guest service. The owner and staff went above and beyond to accommodate us even doing our laundry at no charge! The room was quite comfortable and roomy but in all honesty I do feel the room was dated and in need of some minor upkeep/repair. I also don't feel the accommodation reflected a true 5 star establishment, more a 4 star. That being said, the customer care and genuine welcoming atmosphere we experienced bumped the Windsor up to my 5 star rating.”
