“Lovely pub with a traditional feel and atmosphere. Friendly staff, decent prices and several ales on proper draught tap. 2 permanent ones and 5 guest ones. Lovely place to go for a few pints”
“Called in on a jolly boys outing from Northampton a lovely old world charm good selection of ales and a friendly service will be back again when we return to Rugby 8”
“We had our works summer team building event here and the day was an immense success, we could not ask anymore of Darren and his team, they went beyond our expectations and nothing was too much trouble. The day was filled with laughter and enjoyment from bowling, mini golf, pool, and shuffleboard, I found it hard to tear everyone away to get to our next venue for the next part of the event. Food was tasty, much better than we have had at other place like this. Splendid work Darren and team, keep up the excellent work you have a fantastic venue.”
“Great little breakfast batch bar. We've been using this little shop for years. You can acquire snacks and drinks throughout the day, too. Tasty food with friendly staff. If you're hankering for a sausage, bacon, and egg batch, this is a one-stop shop.”
“First trip to Gallacher's today . Really friendly staff with great wine and nibbles . Loved our first experience of Galachers .Already booked in for our first wine tasting evening . Would highly recommend.”
“Had a meal here with friends a couple of weeks ago. We had a warm welcome and a very friendly and helpful hostess. Food was lovely and good value. I would recommend the pie. Will return again.”
“Called in to break a long journey. A great atmosphere. People clearly at ease and enjoying the pub. Would reccomend.”
“Stayed here over night with our motorhome. Lovely quiet place to stopover next to the canal. Traditional style pub with friendly staff and locals. Doggy friendly also, so put this stopover on your trip.”
“A group of us went to play darts there. Some of us had food. I didnt eat but I understand it was all good, with decent sized portions and amazing value. Wide range of beer available and service was great.”
“Fantastic place for just a pint of food also. I nip in here after work often. Bar staff are friendly. 3 big screens for the footy and rugby. And the food is immense especially since the new menu came out.”
“Good beer , company, pool table, skittles, darts. Excellent friendly service with Thai massage available”
“Excellent pub. Great for a small social gathering especially on the weekends. Staff are great and never fail to give a joke to leave you left laughing”
“What a lovely place! The staff are very kind and friendly, and my time here became a wonderful memory.”
“Honestly one of the best Sunday Roasts going around Rugby to date! Partners burger was amazing too! It's been a good handful of years since I last went here but definitely going to be back!”
“Good selection of beers. Super friendly staff. Ample parking and beer garden.”
“Seven of us went in today for a bit of lunch. We knew it might be busy but we took our chances. 20 to 30 minute wait for food was explained as we ordered. Not a problem. When the food came it was delicious. The service was spot on and we could tell that the staff were slightly stressed with it being so busy, but they delivered and made us very happy. Thank you so much The Bear.”
“Despite growing up in the area this was my first "proper" time at The George and, have to say, first impressions were very good. Light, bright decor inside with plenty of seating options, including a dedicated dining area for meals and a spacious beer garden. Good atmosphere inside, with relaxing selection of background music that wasn't so loud as to be intrusive. Service was brilliant throughout, from the bright, friendly greeting on our arrival to the attentive staff looking after us during meal. Food allergy advised at time of booking was reiterated by the staff when taking our orders, which was reassuring. And, on the subject of the meal, the food was excellent - good portion sizes, very tasty and reasonably priced too. Everyone in our group was very happy with what they had. Would definitely recommend and, although we don't really get out much, we'll definitely be back.”
“Great pub located close to the canal, really friendly owner, allowed us to wash our clothes in the washing machine for a fair price. The food was great pub food, came out quickly, well priced. The drinks are priced well also. If you're coming through on a canal boat there is a mooring nearby so you can stop and eat/drink. They also have facilities for people in motorhomes to park up and stay for the night, really accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend if you're in the area.”
“Best place to listen to live bands and relax with a nice cold beer. Lots if space, available for booking.”
“Absolutely awesome little retreat since Simon took over. Thank you xx”
“Friendly local pub with good prices, clean toilets and helpful staff. Nice and tidy veer garden but real ales are often not served”
“If you haven't been to the Shoulder of Mutton in Grandborough yet you're missing out! Delicious Bangladeshi food, nothing standard here all homemade and delicious, an owner who really cares and entertains through your meal, i can't recommend this place enough, we will be back when next in the area!”
“Stayed here because I was heading to SWB Motorsports, its less than a mile away. The Dun Cow was busy when we stayed, maybe due to Christmas, but more likely because the staff were so friendly, despite being busy. We had evening meals and breakfast - fantastic choice of food, happy to make small changes on the menu to meet your needs, very alert to any allergens. Our room, the Draycote, could accommodate a family if required, had a very clean and enormous shower room and the most gloriously uneven, quirky floor due to the age of the building. The bed was really comfy (I like a firm mattress) which helped me sleep quite soundly, it covered up the only downside (my husband heard the traffic) of being alongside a busy crossroads.”
“Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Homely setting and perfect for all. Sam was incredibly helpful and remembered my order after just the once. Seb and Christianna were also very nice and accommodating. Recommended”
“What a lovely find on booking.com for my overnight stay for work purposes. I didn't eat here because I'd eaten on route due to my work load but was greeted with a friendly receptionist & very welcoming. The room is big and a huge TV which is perfect because normally a box standard TV in other establishmentd I use. There was a note in my room that the ground floor is currently being refurbished. So, I'll definitely revisit to see . It was also lovely and quiet stay .”
“Really good family pub. I don’t normally leave reviews unless I’m particularly impressed and I am here. Ticks all the boxes, play area, colouring and crayons for the kids. A decent pint, nice traditional but well kept decor with indoor and outdoor background music. The food is really good and incredibly cheap & great value. The icing on the cake is the staff and service. Young well mannered and helpful people who are a credit to the establishment. Well done, We’l definitely be back.”
“I hadn’t been here for quite some time so I decided to order takeaway. Although food came around an hours time after ordering, it was still hot, tasty and delicious. They also gave me a complimentary gift which is appreciated!”
“Fantastic staff and hospitality. Lisa is such a wonderful person and is very accommodating. Never a bad experience which is rare nowadays in pubs. All the staff are very welcoming to our football team every week. 10/10 best pub in rugby !”
“Very reasonable drink prices. Lots to do as well, 2 pool tables and a dartboard. The Landlord Adam was a breath of fresh air.”
