We had dishes from the lunch menu, and aside of there being plenty of lovely food, was also excellent value. If you've not been here, booking a table is recommended! “Really great service from Alice and Kevin. Our train up from London had been delayed massively due to issues which meant we arrived very late at night. They arranged to pick us up from the station. Really friendly and a good place to stay. Room was comfortable and breakfast delivered to the door.”

The chicken was unadulterated, didn't come covered in a million and one spices or topped with some chilli relish rubbish, it was great, just what I wanted. Nice piece of chicken, mayonnaise, salad and gerkins. The menu said fries and we were expecting the usual skinny things you tend to get when it says that but what we received was really good chips. Nice pot of tea, very friendly and helpful service. Looking forward to returning soon.”

“This is a fish and chip shop that serves food. We had the small fish tea that was just the right size for an early dinner. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The shop/restaurant was very clean and the staff appeared to follow good hygiene practices. Would definitely recommend.”

“Ordered Salt/Chilli Chips & Duck with Shoots/Chestnuts for collection- was not disappointed. The duck was firm and tasty, paired vegetables and a delicate sauce- the combination tasted real and had a silken texture to it all. As I collected, it was all still piping hot throughout and fresh. I've had chips on a takeout many times, and I have to admit that these were the best Salt/Chilli chips I've ever had (though they often go under the name of Salt/Pepper but they're the same thing.) Collecting has its bonuses- they were freshly made fries with a nice crispy snap to them- none of that soggy stuff you often get on a takeout. All in all, damned delicious and I'll definitely come back in the future next time I order a takeaway. (FYI I really do recommend the duck with shoots/chestnuts- it's not sweet, it's very much savoury, and to me at least it felt as though it didn't have many additives that you might often find in a takeout- no absurd sugaring, not overly seasoned, just genuinely made homely food.)”
