βI went here struggling with anxiety and the lovely women who helped and guided me basically saved my lifeβ
βHad a AAA scan at the hospital. From Lorna at reception to having the scan it was first class. All staff are very friendly and professional.β
βI have been visiting the Esk Centre now for well over four years on a regular basis, traveling approximately over 60 mls every month or as required, to escape from the equivalent services in the Scottish Borders.(which l understand still have not changed to meet the high standards of the Esk Centre in Musselburgh). To begin with, the client or patient or relative or carer is always treated with courtesy and respect. , The patient ( and supporters) are always treated with genuine feelings and emotions that require to be carefully considered and helped. They have considerate rules and guidelines which are in harmony with how a kind and caring medical and psychiatric practise should work. Treating people as adults, as individuals and with respect, while building trust and professional working relationships. They do this by listening intently to your individual problems, after which they begin to form an individual care plan appropriate for each individuals circumstances and needs. The nature of their work is that things often do not go according to their plans. Patients or clients, carers or relatives, all have feelings and emotions which can often affect the patients care plan. But the staff at the Esk Centre continue regardless to treat their clientele with respect, sincerely confronting all issues in a mature adult and respectful manner. Full praise should be given in particular to the office staff who are always friendly, polite and helpful. They do not look down upon the people who speak with them, but rather listen respectfully and try to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. They are also willing to listen to your views and take them on board if they help resolve the problem. I have been privileged to work with Dr Fiona Watson due to my adult son having been assigned to her as a patient for many years now. We understand Dr Watson is sadly due to retire soon, she must be retiring early, which no doubt she fully deserves. In all my years l have never met such a professional, highly qualified doctor who has such a humble approach in treating her patients. Dr Watson is curtious and kind. She listens and will adopt patients views that do not harm the care plan she has devised with her patient. Dr Watson ensures, through years of experience within her field of expertise, that by the time the patient leaves her surgery, that issues have been resolved. A plan of action has been agreed, and that mutual respect remains. That what has occured within the meeting, is a carefully controlled two way dialogue which includes mutual respect and trust. That both parties continue to do their very best to accomplish the individual care plan to meet the patients needs. This can ofcourse include carers, family and friends as supporting the process. The care plan has realistic aims and objectives.lt is adhered to because it respects the patient and the patients support network, treating the patient as an individual that takes into account their complex issues and needs. The care plan is also flexible if required, due to changes in circumstances that arise fro time to time. Previously l mentioned that we travelled over 60mls every month, or as required to escape The Scottish Borders equivellent service. This measure was not taken until my son and his support had suffered the opposite to what the Esk Centre continues to provide. It was a very dark, painful day when we were forced to seak a good mutually respectful caring practise but it became like the Sun in Full Glory when we began using the Esk Centre practise. Thank God for good, kind, thoughtful professional people. Yours sincerely.β
βItβs great: all the doctors and nurses and every service is great, they are late for near all of the appointments but Iβm happy with that and understand that they want to give everybody the same amount of attention and help as every patient in the surgery.β
βVery pleasant and helpful receptionists. Excellent medical care from practice nurses, auxiliary staff and doctors. Thank you to all of you.β
βGreat place full of professionals where you can get help in variety of different problems.β
βI recently saw Charlie Heriot-Maitland at 'Balanced Minds'. I've been a Buddhist for over 30 years so I was very resistant to the idea of therapy, or of thinking I might need it. (Shouldn't I have resolved all that sort of thing in Buddhist practice and meditation?) Also, I'd had therapy before and though I found it helpful, it didn't really help the deeper issues going forward. Charlie was an exemplary therapist. I was able to be very honest with him and he treated me with honestly, insight and care. I felt deeply empathised with but never patronised or fobbed off with easy, pat solutions. My 6 months or so with Charlie and 'Balanced Minds' was incredibly helpful. I am still putting into practice what I learned months after finishing. At the age of 60, I had started to doubt that therapy of any kind could help me (I thought I'd rather missed the boat on any childhood issues!). But help me it did! I am immensely grateful to Charlie for all he was able to give to me. I wholeheartedly recommend him to you, as well as CFT, and 'Balanced Minds'.β

βJust a quick review to say I cannot thank the nurses and staff enough for the care given to my late aunt whilst having end of life care at Tipethill. Everyone treated my aunt with dignity, care and respect . Jennifer, Gareth, Caroline and Amanda were stand out in looking after her the for last three weeks of her life.β

βRecently moved to this GP and they have been the first practice to treat me with respect and patience whilst dealing with my chronic pain. Theyβre incredibly understanding and empathetic and offered me alternatives where other practices have fobbed me off to A&E or treated me like a time waster. It can be difficult to get an appointment but the staff are so lovely and supportive.β
βThe reviews here are shocking, I was so worried about registering as a patient. I am happy to say that my visits to the center have been great, no problem seeing a Dr and the Drs have been fantastic. Do not be put off by all the angry reviews!β
βI have had nothing but pleasant helpful reception staff over the years I have been there. I also have had no complaints with the medical staff who are overworked in every way. It helps if you are pleasant as well.β
βReceptionist very helpful and always smiling. Doctors have always listened and been so helpful. Dr Philpott and Dr Selman both been very attentive and caring over the years.β
βFantastic reception team - efficient, professional and compassionate. The doctors are equally amazing. Iβve honestly had better to care at this practice in the last 12 months than I had at my previous surgery which I was a patient for 30+ years.β
