Bar pub in Watford

“Argyle "on tour". Our first away match in The Championship for 13yrs!! And what a fitting place to start in this pub. We were made very welcome and with a mixture of home and away fans and good friendly banter it was all enhanced by TV screens watching " The Arsenal " ( not a favourite team for the locals !! ) and England women. London Pride was the order of the day and the Landlord invited us to eat our fish and chips bought across the road, in the pub. Nice touch Boss !! Just less than a mile from Watford Junction station it was perfectly placed after our 0700 train from Plymouth. And we got a creditable draw against the home team.....excellent day all round!!”

“I enjoy visiting here as I enjoy the old school atmosphere of how Indian restaurants used to be which feels nostalgic from the decor to the little details such as how the food is served, large chutney pots etc. The service is excellent and the food also tastes great and is reasonably priced.”

“Lovely Indian restaurant with ample parking. They have a decent bar and huge seating area. Food was amazing and they have much choices for your taste buds. Some items on the menu are little pricey, however they are large portions. So, its worth for sharing and families. Service was great and we got our items super quickly. Definitely come back again.”

“Stayed 2 nights in twin room. Rooms lovely and clean tea, coffee, kettle etc. Good location to train and bus station easy walking distance and flat. If your going to Harry Potter studios great location to drive or catch bus. Food in pub was fine, and good value for money. Staff are amazing especially Briony. Would stay again.”

“Had a great experience at the Wetherspoon in Watford. The ambience was really nice — welcoming and relaxed, perfect for a casual outing. The food was good and reasonably priced, living up to the Wetherspoon standard. The place was clean throughout, and the washrooms were surprisingly well maintained, which isn’t always the case in busy pubs. Overall, the place is aesthetically pleasing and well looked after. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!”

“Had a fantastic experience at the Essex Arms! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the drinks were excellent, and the overall service was top tier. A special shoutout to Dennis, who was absolutely brilliant behind the bar – super helpful, friendly, and really attentive. He made sure everyone was looked after and went above and beyond to make the experience enjoyable. It’s rare to come across such genuine customer service these days. “Very helpful staff. It's very nice tasting food. Had the bacon cheese burger and the kids fish bites. Didn't have to wait too long for food or have to wait too long between the main meal and desert. Could do with a menu for younger kids who have less appetite. The breakfast the next morning was lovely. Only downfall to the breakfast was the eggs but that can't be helped when they are in the heated trays.”

“Honestly, I don't understand what some of the reviews are saying that I read before last night. Arrived at 11pm and had no problem with the bouncers, they scanned my id and walked straight in. A truly fantastic night, brilliant vibe and atmosphere. People there friendly and easy to talk to. Always good music and can choose from many different rooms for different music genres. Main room was absolutely buzzing all night, non stop dancing and partying. Only negative for the night is drinks can be quite expensive when buying a big bottle, other than that an amazing night.”
