“I've just had the chance to try one of the feta cheese "rogche" and I was actually quite surprised that it was way more delicious than the one I last tried back home. Very friendly and charming girls at the till, that make you feel like home atmosphere. “I found this little place almost by chance-and I just LOVED it. The food was amazing (price was also very low and portions enormous!), the perfect balance between spice and sour (I had their fermented flat bread with 3 different daals and 2 veggie sides). The owner is the sweetest person ever and it is more than clear that this is not a job for him, but a passion. The place is tiny (which is a pro-makes it cozier!) and super welcoming, with decor that makes you truly feel jumping into the Ethiopian culture! They offered me their typical spice tea: a must have! Just a very lovely experience, absolutely recommended if you love simple and authentic things.”

“Absolutely delicious food. Highly recommend the charcoal grilled meats. You will not be disappointment. We had the grilled lamb main and chicken wings this time and the meat was tender and juicy. Will try the other ones next time. Also loved the smoked aubergine purée dip as well. Honestly all the food dishes were great and the portion size are good too. All the food we tried were great but sadly I forgot to take photos of them as was too focus on eating. We tried their house wines and they weren’t bad neither. This is now our new favourite local place to eat and will definitely add this place to our rotation!”

“I've only ever driven through Cheam before my visit yesterday, a trip by public transport (tram and train) from Croydon specifically to visit the Whitehall museum, housed in a grade II* listed former domestic dwelling dating from before the reign of Henry VIII. While the museum is an important place of reference for local history, geared more towards children than adults, it also houses the excellent Freedom Caffe' tearoom. The restrictions imposed by such an old, historic house may mean they can't use a normal commercial coffee machine but the range of soft drinks is impressive and more importantly, the vegan options for lunch are delicious. I highly recommend both the vegan sausage roll with salad and the vegan Greek. Then there are the cakes... The only vegan option on the day was a chocolate pear and apple cake but it was gorgeous and the staff were attentive and friendly and the food reasonably priced. I also noted the fresh pasta preparation. There's more to Cheam than the museum but whatever else you're doing it's well worth making sure you visit the Freedom Caffe' for a drink and a bite to eat.”
