“My first time at Smith's for a service, MoT and some bits and bobs for my 3 series and I can't compliment them enough. As expected afrer I dropped off my car I was given a list of what I needed to have done and what would be nice for me to decide how much I wanted to sign off. Again as expected I was updated by phone on how work was progressing and if there was issues (in my case parts not arriving on time). Great job and great service I will be back.”

After hitting a curb and then having an independent mechanic attempt repairs, my car continued to make worrying noises and seemed to constantly “need more work” according to them. It no longer felt safe to drive. A friend recommended this garage, and from my first interaction, I felt reassured and confident I was in the right hands. “UPDATED (Original review follows, marked with '***'). Now been servicing my '03 9-5 Aero with Nelson for several years, so can be sure if my earlier judgement! Superb quality of work, always fully explaining and detailing everything done; no just writing 'Full service' on the job sheet - he provides every test result, item checked, consumables topped up etc. etc., which is fantastic and over and above. Always excellent value too, meaning even things that may be a 'big job' are less of a fear (had my brakes all round upgraded with bigger callipers, discs and pads all round for a very reasonable fee a couple of years back). Exactly the sort of good, honest small family business that will keep many Saabs (and other brands I'm sure) safely and comfortably motoring for years. Will be a huge loss when Nelson decides to hang up his tech 2 and enjoy a very well earned retirement!! ***Brilliant prompt, friendly and helpful service; a great family business that deserves all the business they get, especially when it comes to Saab servicing/repairs. So few specialists left that are this good! Had a CEL come on and some intermittent stalling - checked various issues myself and swapped in some new easy to replace parts without success. Just about managed to nurse the car to NDS, and within seconds of starting the car and driving, Nelson had figured the problem out (a loose hose, in an extremely tricky to spot location without lifting the car!). Fixed within 30 mins, also diagnosed an additional likely issue I'd not spotted and advised of a best value DIY fix. Exceptional service, hope to continue using NDS as long as possible to keep my Saab tip-top.”

“3 years old boiler was off for 6 months and it would not turn on anymore. At the first visit the engineer after a few tests understood the pump was jammed. We agreed I was going to buy a new one and he was going to fit it when I got the new piece. A few days later the engineer was back at my place to fit it and the boiler has been working properly since. The engineer was flexible with the hours (he came at 8pm the first time and left at 9:30pm), he was honest and most of all the price was fair. I would definitely reccomend him.”

“I found Lakeside by Googling Lotus Specialists about 5 years ago because my 1985 Excel had a head gasket issue plus a few minor faults. I have owned the car since 1988 and it is low milage (35k). I spoke to Tim and he gave me the advice regarding the repair required and a estimate of cost. I had the car transported to the garage and Tim carried out all my list of requirements to perfection including a a full service. When I collected the car Tim and his wife were fantastic hosts and showed me the work that they had carried out and even had the car washed for me. I collected the car on a Saturday and drove down the road to the garage to put some fuel in by the McClaren Cars entrance. As I turned the corner to my horror the clutch went and that was me to a standstill. It was now past 1 o'clock and the garage was closed. Fortunately I had Tims number, explained my predicament and he and Fiona arrived in their truck and their own Elan M100. Tim insisted that I drive the Elan home whilst he carried out a replacement of the master cylinder the following week. This we did and I returned to drive my car home the following weekend. There a few garages that would come out after closing and fewer that would loan out their own car. Faultless in every sense and my Excel performs better than ever. I did write a review years ago but it was not showing today, so I have re-posted my experience using Lakeside. Number One for me for Lotus Service and Repairs. Brian Capp Hereford. PS Will be visiting again soon as the car has now done 36,000 miles and will be 40 years old in February.”
