“With a background in kaiseki, Chef Yasu’s cooking always carries a strong sense of seasonality. This visit, set at the turn of summer to autumn, saw two styles of plating shift from vivid colours to the muted tones of fallen leaves, wheat, chestnuts and early autumn earth. The restaurant focuses on ageing, and the highlights were unmistakably the scallop and squid. “What looks both from the outside and the inside like a standard greasy spoon cafe in fact serves the most fantastic food For breakfast and lunch with a very friendly owner, a dedicated team of staff and is spotlessly clean. My veggie option for £10 had two poached eggs on mashed avocado on sourdough, old style baked beans, a piece of hash brown, mushrooms, halloumi and a good size fresh salad. Unbelievably good. My friend had roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and described it as absolutely perfect With the meat being very tender.”

“We visited Flat Iron in London for a family lunch, and it was an absolutely lovely experience. The atmosphere was warm ,welcoming and perfect for a casual yet special meal. We tried the beef steak and the green chilli beef burger, and both dishes were delicious. The steak was tender, juicy, and cooked exactly as we ordered, with that signature Flat Iron flavour that never disappoints. The green chilli beef burger was a real highlight packed with bold, spicy flavours that added a nice kick without being overwhelming. A really nice touch was the complimentary freshly made popcorn served when we arrived, and the free vanilla ice cream cone at the end such a thoughtful way to round off the meal! The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout. Service was quick, and the overall vibe was relaxed, which made it perfect for a family lunch. “Attended first Sunday lunch offering at Naughty Neighbour, the restaurant attached to Lawrence Arms. Started with a nice local beer, then the roast belly of pork with all the veg; also ordered the roast beef. All hot, tasty, filling, plus excellent hot gravy. We had booked and there were a few walkins. Finished with great apple crumble. Good value for money too, and reasonably priced wines.”

“Extremely well-located Lebanese restaurant - at the heart of Twickenham’s high street area. I mostly opt for takeaways. The restaurant is small but cosy. The food is delicious with a large vegetarian selection. Busy at all hours but the staff is mostly friendly! I liked the dishes, the crockery and the place has a buzz during the day, especially on weekends. On a recent dine-in we tried the yoghurt & cucumber starter dish, a couple of vegetarian wraps and a Meze platter for one - which was especially good value for even two people, if accompanied with a selection of 3 or so savouries! Tasty food and at good value. The staff are friendly and cordial, but the service isn’t exemplary - if only because the place is really busy at most times and staff are busier with the preparation. Even so, it’s the kind of local diner you’d find yourself visiting fairly frequently. I recommend it !”

We’ve ordered the most beautiful celebratory cakes and the pastries at this lovely little patisserie are exquisite. The cafe has a lovely homely atmosphere and the owners are always welcoming. “I think all my other reviews of other restaurants need to go down one star after our meal here. What I really loved about this restaurant over other similar bracket places is that it was exquisite food but never felt pretentious. The food was incredible and the wine pairing was devine. I have always been a bit disappointed with Tokaji before but their selection is by far and the best I have had from Hungary. Staff were amazingly friendly and courteous - really helped to enhance the intimate feel of the venue. Chef coming out and explaining the food was a nice touch. Highlights for me was the rainbow trout course.. that was just incredible.. and the Cevennes Onion - I can see why it is their signature dish.. I could keep waxing superlatives but all I can say is do come and try it and you will see what i mean.. Will be back for my wifes birthday later in the year!”

The wine again is just fabulous, mostly organic from vineyards that produce max 1,000 bottles. The staff have such a passion for the food/wine and are so knowledgeable.
