Quality restaurant experience in Purley

“Been here before to pick up just avocado maki; this time I was in a rush so explained this to the shop owner who was professional and polite, said he could make me up a sushi box in the 10 mins I had if I chose quickly. After changing my choice a couple of times he was patient enough to go with it and I settled on the Omega Box (8 Salmon & Avocado Rolls, 6 Salmon Maki, 6 Avocado Maki) which came with soya sauce, wasabi paste (firmer and drier than usual sushi box wasabi, possibly better quality?) - with a 10% takeaway discount it came to £11.69. Sushi rice was room-temperature (as best enjoyed), well-seasoned and good texture, fresh-tasting fish and avocado, with a good amount of filling in the salmon & avocado rolls; really enjoyed and plan to return!”

“I had a great experience at Pizza Hut. Alfie and the staff were really welcoming and helpful especially with ordering of the violife pizza which was quite confusing for both sides. Great pizzas as well as the salad bar.”

“Actually so confused about the bad reviews. I ordered before looking at them - saw the bad reviews as food was en route and had a bit of a panic. The food was hot upon arrival, flavoursome and didnt inflict any sort of food poisoning- and I have a VERY weak stomach when it comes to food related illnesses. Again, flabbergasted at the bad reviews- 10/10 would order again!”

“Absolutely amazing experience at Purley Dragon! I honestly don’t understand all the bad reviews — they couldn’t be further from the truth. Every time I’ve been to Purley Dragon, the food has been incredible — always hot, fresh, and full of flavour. The portions are generous, and you can tell everything is made with care. The staff are genuinely some of the nicest people you’ll meet. They’re polite, welcoming, and always happy to accommodate special requests or dietary needs. You can tell they really care about their customers and want everyone to have a great experience. The restaurant is always clean, cosy, and has such a warm atmosphere — it’s perfect for a takeaway night or a casual meal out. I’ve tried a lot of Chinese places around the area, and none come close to the taste or service here. If you’re hesitating because of the negative reviews, don’t. Give Purley Dragon a try — you’ll see for yourself how wrong those comments are. Once you do, you’ll never go anywhere else for Chinese again!”

“Simply Stunning!! Valentines afternoon tea for all the family, we visited as a family age range 3y-68y and there was something for everyone. The food was fresh and extremely tasty, the venue itself was beautiful so special and has perfect photo opportunities and the service was outstanding it felt very personal with lots of extra special touches. “I really liked the atmosphere, it reminded me a lot of Italy. The food is excellent, the dishes are beautiful, the wine is very good. The prices vary, but overall it is not expensive. The atmosphere is not very large, so if there are a lot of people it is a good idea to make a reservation, especially on the weekend. But I will come back if possible. It is not wheelchair accessible, there is a small staircase at the entrance.”

“A wonderful dining experience. The steak was cooked to perfection – tender and full of rich flavour. The chorizo in wine was outstanding, beautifully seasoned and bursting with taste. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Argentine cuisine.”

“Celebrated my nephew’s 30th birthday party yesterday evening. Held upstairs in the private area. Absolutely brilliant. Lovely staff, great food. Above all, Renegade DJ was the best. ! Had everyone dancing all night. And what a happy, bubbly person you are. So nice (and refreshing) to see a DJ in such good spirits ALL NIGHT. “I had a fantastic rainy Tuesday sitting in the conservatory of this little gem of an establishment. Decor was beautiful and staff were active, professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Not only were they excellent, they genuinely seemed to enjoy the job which created a great atmosphere. I was honestly stunned. It was such a nice homely feel. It was also busy when we arrived. We’d booked a table and our booking time was politely and decoratively written on a small stand at our table (including the time our slot ended) but we didn’t get the impression that we had to rush at all. In fact it was pouring with rain and it got a bit quieter after 1pm so we were welcomed to stay. So we had some tea and cake, which was delicious. Staff were helpful with the menu, I have allergies and there was absolutely none of the panic that unsettled me in some establishments when I mention it. I felt confident about picking food. I was delighted to find they offer turkey bacon and had eggs. I did have to knock off a star for the eggs Benedict. The eggs were between runny and well done and I found the muffin a little dry so it missed some flavour for me, but the coffee was amazing, as was the rose tea I had later. It’s worth adding that the toilet here was one of the nicest smelling I’ve ever been in?! It smelled like strawberries and was super clean, always a massive bonus. Oh and the restaurant is not only dog friendly, but staff are really nice to dogs, it was so cute to see how well a little poodle was treated in there. There was a little comfy bed , a bowl of water, and treats offered to the pooch, which was adorable. I will definitely visit again soon. Great way to spend an afternoon. Definitely book ahead to avoid disappointment!”

“What a great little pub, the only reason I marked down for atmosphere is because we went at lunchtime , so maybe not as lively as in the evening. We sat in the dining area but the rest of the pub was busy. The food was delicious, hot and the batter on my chicken was perfect. Another bonus hot pork scratchings! Shouldn’t have had them before are ample dinners! The staff were so friendly and it’s reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend”

“I love the staff. Most of them are my friends now because they are so friendly and kind. Always a smile and patience beyond measure. I've seen it tested. One guy is annoying to both customers and staff but we all just ignore him mostly. The chicken however is flipping delicious. It's so flavourful. I highly doubt anyone would be disappointed if they try it for themselves. Better than chicken cottage on London rd. Better than KFC by far. Better than that one chicken shop of church street (I'm so sorry to say but it's true). Obviously I like chicken, hot wings in particular so I know what's up. This place is dope.”

“Best in the area by a distance. Freshly cooked with good quality ingredients. Plenty of flavour and nice staff as well. I made the mistake of trying another Chinese in the area while these guys were closed and won't be ordering from anywhere else in purley other than these guys again.”
