“Only went in for a couple before visiting other pubs and I was pleasantly surprised. I'd never been here before so didn't really know what to expect, and this place was great! Lovely staff, good atmosphere and a decent pint of Guinness. The locals were friendly too. I'd recommend giving this place a go.”
“Staff are so helpful and willing to make anything that isn’t already out of if I want it. Always delicious and always service with a smile!”
“Excellent food and service. The atmosphere was exquisite, with Lithuanian pop music and basketball games on the screens. The staff was very polite and helpful. Overall, great experience with great examples of Lithuania's cuisine, drinks and hospitality. Will come back again. Photo - tasting menu for 20£ per person. Would recommend it if you're visiting for the first time.”
“We used to live here in Crystal Palace, and can say that this is one one of the best local breaksfast places by far. Full english breakfast so good, and if you like coffee, here is just awesome.”
“I happen to visit the cafe during hi team time. It is perfect place to relax with outdoor terrace seating in a warm and sunny day. The interiors are bright and inviting as well. The food is fresh with all European flavours to savory crepes . The cafe offers a wide choice of tea & coffee selection along with pastry & Ice cream to offer. The service was prompt and warmly anticipated.”
“We had the best Sunday lunch here today! Such a lovely pub and the staff were great. The roasts were fantastic! Good big portions and everything was delicious. Fair drinks prices. Would be delighted to return here!”
“The owner is the most humble person ever. He supported the local mosque with food for volunteers and staff, helped support other out of the kindness of his heart. The food is absolutely lovely too, taste amazing and great atmosphere overall!!”
“Joy King Lau has established itself as our reliable culinary favourite in Central London. While the dim sum here is genuinely top-tier—the food is amazing and always leaves us delighted—what truly transforms this restaurant into an institution is the exceptional, personalized service. We come here all the time, and every visit feels special thanks to the incredible team. In particular, we want to recognize Jia and Ahan. These two fantastic waiters treat us so well, making us feel instantly welcome the moment we step through the door. Jia is always so personable and attentive, handling a busy dining room with grace while still making sure our table is perfectly looked after. Ahan is equally brilliant—professional, quick, and always ready with a smile. Their dedication ensures a smooth, relaxing, and enjoyable experience every single time. As for the cuisine, the execution is flawless. The dim sum is fresh, flavourful, and consistently the best we've found. From the delicate steamed buns to the crispy fried selections, this is a kitchen operating at peak performance. If you’re looking for a Central London dim sum spot that excels in both taste and hospitality, look no further. Thank you, Joy King Lau, Jia, and Ahan, for being our reliable haven!”
“Very good Japanese restaurant. The tuna rolls were delicious and so was the rest of the food. The place could use a bit of softer lights and music to give it a bit of atmosphere. Service was good.”
“[SHORT VERSION] One of the best Japanese food we’ve had in London. Prices were MORE than reasonable and the portions are big. You should eat here. [LONG VERSION] The Food: We first had the Yuzu Yellowtail Tiradito. The first mouthful me and my partner had, we looked at each other and said, this sort of flavours could be easily served in fine dining restaurants. Very complex sweet, sour, and a small beautiful hint of spiciness to it and then the yellowtail tasted so fresh. Not one bit of slimy/fishy smell or flavour to it. We then had the mixed tempura. There was no usual dipping sauce and we thought it was a bit sad, but when we had our first bite, it was so crunchy and tasty that too much sauce would ruin it. You could really taste the freshness of the prawn. My partner and I think that proper japanese chefs pay attention to detail, so we check how they prepare their food, and they delivered. The tails of the prawns were completely clean with no black marks at all and the vegetables were so fresh too. We also had the pork katsu curry, which had the entire bowl covered with the pork cutlet and a really powerful japanese curry sauce(very flavourful)[no photo as someone took a better one that does justice to it]. The Chef and the Place: To be honest, I found out about this restaurant passing by it early morning(it was closed) on our to the bus stop, and I checked the reviews(high). I thought we would drop by later that night. They said that they don’t do reservations as it is really a small place(mainly takeaways), with bar like setting(stools lined up along the window and along where the chef prepares sushi) and 1 small table on the side. We went in later for dinner and were surprised that there wasn’t a single Japanese staff in the place, I even looked outside to check if we were in the right place. So we’re like, ok let’s just order, we’re here already and as soon as we tasted the food, we loved it. We talked to this Sri Lankan chef and asked how the hell his food tasted this good and we all had a good laugh. He’s been in the Japanese Fine dining field for 25 years and he wanted to start his own little restaurant serving cheap but high quality food. We spent 2 hours talking about Japanese food, and how they store, prepare, and present their food. They even showed us that they use only the highest quality ingredients all the way down to the salt they use for the sushi. These guys are lovely human beings and they are also highly skilled in what they do and they need the recognition. Thank you for the lovely meal. It was a pleasure meeting you guys. P.S. Thanks for the special off-menu aburi salmon!”
“I've been eating and taking away from this restaurant almost from the time I moved to Putney 57 years ago. Thetford has always been delicious, the service unfailingly professional but friendly and the portions more than generous. I love it.”
“I visited with my family in August for my son's birthday and it was lovely. Not my first time eating their food, but my first time dining in. We did have to wait a bit of time before eating, though when it arrived, no complaints. However, to be fair, this type of cuisine, waiting is expected. I ordered Ayamashe with plaintain and it was very tasty, whilst eating little bits of others. Overall, the food was delicious and portions were good, a bit too much ice in the drinks, but its a minor issue as I should have said before hand. The restaurant is clean and presentable and service was good. Victor was a very professional, patient and polite waiter. Keep up the good work. Definitely will visit again and definitely will order again. (Small suggestion, if possible to have a non spice option for children. Understandable with the culture and its spices, but not all children can tolerate spice :).”
“Fantastic food if you like Turkish grill, the mix grill plate here was amazing and the staff were polite and helpful. Food service was quick and the prices are more than reasonable. The portions are large and the quality of the food is great. They have a full licence which means they serve a well priced selection of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks to accompany your meal. The decor is pretty quirky, has more of a transport cafe feel to it than late night restaurant, this wouldn't stop me eating here again but I feel it's more of a mates dinner than a romantic night out kind of place. That said the tables were clean and matching and the seats were comfy enough for a meal. The restroom was a little dated but also was clean and fully stocked with a working hand dryer. When I couldn't finish my plate I asked for the remaining food to be put into a take out box and the staff were happy to do this, they even threw in some fresh pots of chilli sauce and yoghurt! The staff were also happy to watch my stuff whilst I popped to get some extra cash from the list atm The Turkish coffee was great, I ordered sweet and it was just right for me. I'd be happy to recommend this as a great place for some nice food after a long day at work, which is exactly what I was looking for.”
“Great Brazilian bar with delicious caipirinhas and Brazilian snacks and dishes and music that takes me back to my time in Brazil. Staff are always very friendly and my hubbie got a cute surprise birthday cake last time we went. /would recommend”
“Eltham GDK is my local branch. I treat myself to a GDK when there are offers on the OG Kebab. They always deliver consistently, the public area is always clean and well kept, the chefs always do a great job and make the order correct (if you ask for extra onioms for example or no tomatoes) and the front desk service is so friendly and organic, there is nomnally a male on the front desk (not sure of his name) and he is always friendly and helpful. In recent months there is a female named Tuba on the front desk who is as well always friendly and helpful. It makes a huge difference in the experience. Not that there has ever been an issue with an order, but if there was, the teams friendliness and eagerness to ensure you have had a good experience would make me feel super comfortable to address any concerns. In my experience this is so rare for a franchise. To Tuba and the rest if the team, thanks for your collective efforts to deliver a brilliant experience every time. You all work hard and I hope headoffice recognize what an incredible team they have.”
“An unexpected gem! The pub itself has a great atmosphere and mix of punters. The restaurant sits beneath but can be ordered from upstairs in the pub as well. The food is excellent. Classic Thai menu and cooked brilliantly. We had a selection of dishes including the mixed starter, Panang curry, roast duck and broccoli. All full of flavour. Would recommend if your after some Thai food and a few drinks.”
“I went there for dinner and absolutely loved the food and the ambiance! You can tell that the cuisine was homemade and different from what you can find in a typical Italian restaurant! The owner came to check several times if we were enjoying our food which a plus!! The wine was great and the tiramisu delish!”
“All I can do is only compliment this place. I went with my partner for her 21st and I can only say how brilliant everything was. Our starters were brilliant, we had the Toushka which was absolutely fantastic and the sujuc rolls which my partner loved. We then had the lamb shank which was beautiful and the kebab (not the cherry one!) which I also enjoyed, but the star of the mains was the Spicy Potatoes. Without doubt the best potatoes I have ever had, fluffy, perfectly seasoned with a phenomenal crisp on the outside, they were sensational and a must have to anyone going here! We then for deserts got the Honey Cake which is also a must have, absolutely delicious which was also a treat from the house for the birthday, alongside a shot of brandy which was lovely to have, but was very strong! But still hugely appreciated. As mentioned, if you get the opportunity to come here, please make sure you do as it is simply wonderful.”
“If you’re looking for authentic okonomiyaki in London, I highly recommend Okan. The flavours are fantastic, and you can customise your dish with extra toppings — the balance of ingredients is just perfect. The interior has a nostalgic atmosphere that feels just like Showa-era Japan, making it a very cozy and relaxing place. The staff are also incredibly friendly, and it’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again. I’ll definitely be visiting again!”
“Thank you so much for letting us in 15 minutes before closing time! The food was really good and we even got a very tasty desert from the house as well. Thank you for your kind hospitality and service.”
“My family and I went to the crossing and had the best experience. The food was great and the drinks too! Special mention to our great waiter Harry - attentive with a fun touch to the service. A great waiter really brings the meal to another level and Harry performed!”
“Fantastic choice for Sunday roast. Great veggie options (as well as vegan) and lovely service - thanks Elliot and Jordan!”
“Wonderful place for Korean food in London ! We didn’t try the BBQ but standards plates, all delightful ! The tteokbokki and the pajeon were so good, as well as the soy garlic chicken bites. We tried different bibimbap and the tofu and sea food stew, so tasty and not too spicy, which was great for us ! Plates are really affordable in my opinion. And the service is great ! I highly recommend this place !”
“A beautiful meal as always. Food is 10/10 and lots to choose from. Always so accommodating and very family friendly. The kids love the food here too and my little girl really enjoyed the entertainment and got involved for a dance :). I would defo recommend it here. Lovely little setting in Bermondsey square.”
“We came here on a Saturday night and loved it! The food is great taste with good portion size. The staff are very friendly and recommended wonderful dishes to us. The food also came out quickly. The menu had a fantastic range of dishes to choose from and all very authentic. Would recommend the pa jeong (sorry for spelling it wrong!) And Dwaeji Bulgogi. Will come back!”
“The food was delicious. Definitely worth trying”
“Great family run business, with the Turkish flavours & lovely atmosphere.”
