“Great NT place, visited lots of times but this time, as well as using the very good cafe, we walked through the estate onto the path by the runway. Saw lots of planes taking off and landing. The grandchildren loved it!! Family membership well worth it!”

“An internationally accessible haven of tranquility providing escape from the city. Dunham Massey is a brilliant green area south of Manchester, well conectes to Manchester airport. A range of flora and fauna make for a wonderful nature trail and forage, or a humble walk passively absorbing the natural landscape including forested areas and open pastures featuring abundant wildlife. On our visit most of the amenities were closed due to a met office weather warning, but this didn’t stop us exploring the vast grounds in peace. They often talk about calm before the storm, but rarely the calm during the storm- which is what we experienced due to the lack of fair weather crowds. I can imagine on more typical days tje cafes and visitors centre complete this experience with a warm drink or a hot soup after a brisk autumn stroll. I look forward to experiencing these on a future visit.”

“Aqua Babies: A Weekly Dose of Joy and Confidence Building. Aqua Babies Timperley has become the absolute highlight of our week, and I can't recommend it highly enough. From the moment we stepped into the pool, we were met with a truly warm and welcoming team. Their genuine enthusiasm and gentle approach immediately put both my son and myself at ease. Our instructor is fantastic, demonstrating a real passion for what they do. They create a nurturing environment where little ones can explore the water at their own pace. What's truly wonderful to witness is my son's growing confidence. Each week, he's becoming more comfortable and adventurous in the water, and it's all thanks to the patient and encouraging guidance he receives. Seeing him progress from tentative splashes to happy, independent movements is an absolute joy. The classes are thoughtfully structured and always include fun songs and games. It's clear that the team has a deep understanding of child development, and they tailor the activities to suit each child's individual needs. Beyond the excellent instruction, it's the friendly and supportive atmosphere that truly sets Aqua Babies apart. The team remembers each child's name, celebrates their achievements, and makes every session feel like a special occasion. It's a pleasure to attend, not just for my son's development, but also for the sense of community and connection we've found. If you're looking for a baby swimming class that combines expert instruction with a genuinely warm and welcoming environment, Aqua Babies Timperley is the perfect choice. It's been an absolute delight to watch my son flourish, and we look forward to our weekly swim with immense anticipation. Gemma & Jude Brookes”

“Country park in Royton with toilets, picnic areas, playground and cafe (only open weekends which is a shame) There's a largish car park but also parking on the approach road (if there's space).Lots of routes that are colour coded. Some are quite steep but if you have the strength to push a pram/wheelchair uphill the trails are wide and in good condition - mainly tarmac or hardcore. There are plenty of narrower trails off these for the more adventurous.”

“A really great place for a walk especially with our dog. We tend to do the llama farm loop then back along the canal towpath towards Swizzles before heading towards the Rock Inn & down the path back to the riverside park. Other alternatives include keeping on the path past the llama farm to Cowgill farm then cross the road to the footpath under the railway line up to a bridleway which gives options to go to the road & down towards Hare and Hounds or carry on to Big Stone...(see photos)”

“Spent an afternoon with a good friend here. The weather was gorgeous which just added to a marvellous day all round. We started with a breakfast in the stable cafe, and a cake to take away. The house itself is breathtaking. The solar is probably up there with the best rooms I've ever visited in a historic house setting. The guide outside the room was delightfully chatty, friendly and informative. Made us feel so welcome. It was great to see some of the conservation set up that they have on the go. We finished with a brisk walk around the grounds to finish the day.”

“Childhood walking area, nice field at the start where dogs can run around. Small stream that dogs can get a drink or play in. You can walk further into the wooded area and up to a disused rail line and reservoir, leading further onto the moors. Dogs and people are able to get down to the water.”

“Mayfield Park is a unique little gem in Manchester!! It’s not very big, but it offers lovely seating areas and is great for a relaxing walk. Especially beautiful around sunset when the lighting in the park comes on and adds a cozy vibe. There are quite a lot of security cameras around, which might bother some. Other than that it’s Manchester’s most beautiful park!!!”
