“Great venue for any celebration or even a nice pint on a sunny day. Whole place was spotlessly clean each time I've visited. Staff couldn't do enough for us on the night of the event and were so nice to everyone. I will definitely hire again, the setting is lovely as it is right next to the canal running through Marple. “My son and I went in half 6 Saturday evening having just phoned ahead to check. Pub was bustling with a good atmosphere and the restaurant was filling up. Lovely friendly staff tended to us throughout the meal which was delicious! I had the chicken fillet, which had lovely crispy skin and the caramelised onion and potato gratin was fantastic and all held together with a great sauce. He had rump steak, medium rare, which was really nicely cooked. Desserts were equally good. I had sticky toffee pudding which was moist with lots of toffee sauce and a really generous helping of ice cream. He had the chocolate and salted caramel cake which was chocoholics heaven! Highly recommended.”

“Without a doubt the best curry I've had in a long time. Went for the 5 courses for £15 deal and cannot fault it. The starters were delicious - I had the chicken pakoora and my partner the chicken chat puri. Both were superb. Mains were a lamb dish with chili and garlic for me, and a Maducash murg for the Mrs. Again, both were superb. We will be back to dine here again, no doubt about it. Service was second to none - we have been here multiple times now.”

“Had wanted to go for ages and today was the day and didn't disappoint. Food was amazing had a roast turkey dinner it was heaven. Partner had the steak with red wine pie ,beautiful he said best ever. Empty plates. Kids meal demolished as was the ice cream and the adult hot fudge cake. Staff were so polite and friendly. Will be there again soon x”

“A real upscale place! Fabulous spacious bar with plenty of seating and large screens, lovely clean room for 3 adults sharing. Not a lot of parking but that was the only complaint. Fabulous breakfast too, even swapped out my egg for black pudding which not everywhere will do. Great and also close to other bars and Horwich centre - about a mile walk to the Bolton Wanderers ground.”

“To experience this oddity in the modern world you cannot do it over a couple of drinks or a fleeting visit. It has historical and cultural depths that the locals are barely conscious of and only the regulars get it. Once you get it you'll find it difficult to let go. When I enter the MOP it feels like I'm putting on an old, but well loved jacket, with its creases that fits just right. Comfortable.”

“We asked Emma at the Builders if we could organise a small party in the Pub for friends. She was very accommodating and organised sandwich platters for the guests. Its a great location for meeting with friends. The quality of the sandwiches was excellent with many comments for others on these. The drink range is really good and very affordable compared to other places in Knutsford. As the weather was nice we also got to enjoy the outside garden and heated terrace area. Overall a great experience. Thanks to Emma and the staff.”
