βI cannot express enough thanks to the best care that I have received recently from the Practice, Dr Milligan, Dr Dugmore and Sam, and receptionist staff. I struggled with covid and pneumonia and they took care of me and looked after me with so much care and understanding. Thank you so much for everything this last month. I still have a road of recovery ahead of me, but without your support I would have been lost. Xβ
βI had to go for a scan, Sydney, Hannah, Katherae, SuJan all helped and they were absolutely amazing! Couldnβt have asked for nicer! It was nice to be treated in such a friendly manner. Thank you so muchβ
βMy daughter came in for her pre-school jabs today and the nurse was fantastic. She gave my daughterβs cuddly toy a jab first to put my daughter at ease and then gave my daughter her jabs without any tears. My little one was so proud of the two stickers she got. Thank you for making what can be a traumatic experience for all involved so easy.β
βI would just like to say recently I've had to speak with the receptionist on quite a few occasions and in the past I have had rude and not very helpful receptionist. But kim who works at the surgery has been very helpful with appointments and with giving helpful advice lovely to have a good happy receptionist who is good at her job.β
βI've only ever had good experiences with Circuit Lane surgery. The staff have always been friendly, understanding and patient. The clinical staff take my concerns seriously, do a thorough job in terms of prescribing medication and ordering tests, and follow up promptly with results. The one downside is that it can take a long time to get an appointment with a GP. That's a broader problem with NHS funding though, and there's nothing this surgery can do given the number of patients they have to serve, and the number of doctors available. It's worth noting that I've never not been able to get an emergency clinician telephone appointment on the same day, as long as I call by 10am. That's only really for emergencies though, and won't get you the same breadth of care for minor infections or ailments as talking to a GP.β
βNurse healthcare assistants are fantastic. As are doctors and receptionists am aparent of a severley Autistic/non verbal man the staff are fantastic with him.β
βI had an emergency appointment this morning, the reception staff were very helpful and understanding. The two doctors I saw were amazing. I cannot thank them enough for seeing me today, they were very thorough in the investigation and I am grateful for their time and sympathetic help. I couldn't ask for a better service, especially as everyone was so busy. So I thank you again for such an amazing caring service. Rachelle Bennettβ
βToday, I visited with my 8-year-old daughter. Many thanks to the lady at reception. It was our 4th visit in the last 3 months, and we have been happy with the doctors every time. Maybe we are lucky)β
βI have always got an appointment when needed, and am always treated with kindness and respect. Especially when I've had my children seen, everyone is so lovely. Obviously they are very stretched, and can sometimes be waiting a long time on the phone, but honestly I have nothing bad to say about this surgeryβ
βStaff on phone polite and find me appointments, Nurses always lovely and caring, Dr's listen and organise prescriptions/hospital tests as needed. Phsio also very helpful and gives good advice.β
βFeel I need to even out the reviews & therefore have selected 5*, despite thinking they deserve 3.5-4*. However, I don't know a single doctor's practice/medical centre that deserves 5* - even private ones! The current 2.5* may not truly reflect Crown Heights due to people only reviewing when something negative happens, plus people not realising the whole of the NHS is dire these days. I have extensive direct & indirect experiences with most of the practices in Basingstoke and Crown Heights remains joint top 2. As mentioned, I also have experiences with private medical centres. EVERYWHERE currently has moved to using E-consult as first line of contact - some of these get answered within 24hrs, others take a few days depending on the issue. Every practice's E-consult system isn't great. Receptionists will often ask you to lie to expedite the system when it comes to certain issues. Don't forget if you worsen whilst you await a response, it says to call them. I see E-consult as beneficial in some ways, as now we have written proof of what we've asked for help with. It also stops patients coming to appointments unprepared, completely relying on doctors to figure out what's wrong, from minimal info. We live in a time where we have to take our health into our own hands a lot more - writing symptoms lists/diagrams & timelines before appointments (you can send these virtually also) - anything you think might be useful & potentially doing your own research can be beneficial, as long as you feel capable doing so. Crown Heights has multiple doctors that will appreciate you coming into appointments with a sense of understanding and direction, whereas many doctors elsewhere find this offensive & undermining of their authority, due to being on a power-trip. Everywhere is difficult to get same-day appointments unless you phone within the first 30-60mins of opening, however Crown Heights is one of the better ones as they do actually have appointments to offer & usually call if agreed. The receptionists are generally friendly/helpful unlike many other practices, but like with any staff who are stretched beyond their limits, occasionally something will be forgotten and so it's okay to chase them. Utilise the different switchboard options; if it's a referral query, go directly to the secretaries as it'll save you days/weeks compared to leaving messages with reception. Don't forget you can email if suitable, although this is usually slower as it's considered less priority. Also don't forget you can speak to your pharmacist for certain medical advice and in many places they're allowing face to face chats again now. From my experience, Crown Heights holds the highest number of competent & good doctors. Everywhere will have some bad eggs & it's just about learning who's good & sticking with them - some doctors may have better knowledge on some conditions than others, so experiences per person may vary. Crown Heights allows you to request a specific doctor & depending on the urgency, 90% of the time they will give you them, especially if you have good reason, such as requesting a female doctor for women's health issues (something I usually recommend). We're lucky that at Crown Heights you can request a change of GP or doctor also - at other practices this gets denied. Let's say you see someone regarding a problem and they are dismissive and rude to you, don't give up, if the situation calls for it, ask for another appointment with someone else. Crown Heights are also a lot more open about giving you access to your own data compared to other practices, which suggests they're more honest/trustworthy, compared to other practices which lie incessantly. They're reliable and reasonable with medication requests - I've never had any issues here. They also finally sorted out their phone hold capacity.β
βPeople rarely leave good reviews and mostly feel called to action upon a bad experience. I have nothing but praise for this practice. I have however always used the e-consult first so have no wish to undermine the experience of others with a less favourable experience. I have always received a same day appointment when necessary, been treated promptly and referred accordingly. I cannot fault my care. Thank you Wokingham Medical Centre.β
