“Lovely wee pub/inn. Was very busy when we were there but the service was still very quick and we were never left waiting long. Our food was 10/10 couldn't fault it. I'll post pics of the food so you can see what we got. I HIGHLY recommend the haddock!”

“I always come here for food and it never disappoints. I highly recommend the buffalo wings and the taco fries. The staff are always friendly and helpful and are never overwhelming! Their lunch menu is great value for money as the portions are the perfect amount (especially the wings). Good music and overall a very relaxed atmosphere and the food never takes too long to arrive :)”

“The meal was better than I expected, to be honest. Especially given the reasonable pricing. The seafood chowder was served piping hot and was thick and fresh tasting. The brisket rigatoni was delicious. Plenty of beef in the dish and the sauce was slightly sweet. Didn't have a dessert because the servings were enough. Would return.”

The recent Aurora Beer Festival, held over two days, was a particularly impressive expression of the bar’s ethos—a carefully curated celebration of the local and regional craft beer scene. Among many excellent pours, the standout was a superbly rich imperial stout from White Hag in Sligo—bold, complex, and the perfect centrepiece for a festival of this kind. Special credit is due to Aidan, who not only delivered his usual attentive and well-informed service, but also took on the considerable task of organising the entire festival. The result was an event that felt cohesive and seamless—no doubt benefiting from the structured, analytical mindset he brings to both the bar and, as we’ve gathered, his scientific research. That dual expertise showed in everything from the thoughtful pacing to the clarity of presentation. Northern Lights continues to distinguish itself not by flash or trend, but by intention. It’s a place where hospitality feels genuine, where beer is taken seriously without being pretentious, and where events like Aurora reflect a quiet ambition to raise the bar for what a local can be. We’ll be back soon—as always—and are already looking forward to what comes next.”

“Excellent cafe/ restaurant. Very popular and for good reason. Friendly staff. Scones are incredible. Food choice is varied and looks great too. Dog friendly. I love to pop in after a walk and sit outside. Great location by the lough and coastal path.”

“Overwood is beautifully decorated restaurant with wonderful engraved glass artwork on the walls. The menu was geared more to steak lovers but found some excellent alternatives in the monkfish dish accompanied by baked baby potatoes with Parmesan and glazed carrots. Our starters were excellent too. I enjoyed a delicious celeriac salad with raisins and apple and smoked broccoli. Very unique flavour and very tasty. Portions were generous so I had no room for dessert! Rachel was an excellent, friendly and highly efficient server. Thank you. We will be back!”

“Great bar.. A friend and I called in on Saturday to watch Man Utd match... Various tvs showing different matches and the place pretty busy... Although the upstairs bar wasn't open, the owner kindly put a TV on for my friend and I to watch upstairs.... Great atmosphere and great Guinness. .”

“fGreat little spot for a Chinese takeaway. They do the usual Chinese takeaway dishes (all of which I've tried) and they're all pretty good! We come here every week since July and the staff are always super friendly. Food portions are just right, never leaving hungry or super bloated. My favourite dish would be their Salt and Chilli King Prawns with fried rice but I'd recommend a pint or two with your meal to combat the spice! There's a great atmosphere that comes with the restaurant being within a bar and it's quite a unique experience when eating your Chinese meal :). I've been here for 8 months now and it's brilliant every time. They also have their own beer on tap called the Southside Lager with is pretty good. Overall I would definitely recommend trying this place out. Prices are usual for food in restaurants / bars. You can always stay longer for a few more drinks too. Edit: Have been here for over 2 years now, the staff are always friendly so definitely give it a try :)”

“I have been going to Off the Grid Coffee since I moved to Northern Ireland, 2 years ago. The coffee and a chat with Karen have been a huge motivation to get out of bed on a Saturday morning. The coffee is great and there is a real community feel to the van/coffee/Karen. The sweet treats on offer are always a welcomed bonus after a long walk to the van. Karen always keeps her customers updated, if the van needs to close for bad weather, which is great. The van is situated in one of the best locations (my opinion), with some amazing views, no two days look the same when looking out of Sea park.....so thank you Karen for organising this :)”

“We were just passing through Ballymena after going up Slemish and chose this restaurant randomly. The place is big and the staff were very friendly. We got a Sunday menu for £25 (3 courses) and the meat platter. Everything was very tasty and we left feeling satisfied! Highly recommended”

“We ordered chicken tikka and lamb tikka plus pilaf rice and naan bread from the Bengal Brasserie on Ormeau Road last night. The order came right on time and the food was hot. Surprisingly we were also given vegetable dal to go with the meals which was very good - lots of different vegetables and not overcooked. The lamb tikka was very tender and tasty. There was so much food we didn't even try the chicken tikka. We'll have that tonight. We think we'll start doing this on a regular basis!”

“I've been to the Naz a couple of times this year - the food is lovely, the staff are attentive, and the price is extremely good (it's also BYO). We had 6 people, starters and mains and it was under £100! Definitely will be happy to go back.”

“Just gets better. Just shows when you do something well it's worth the effort. Trad music Thursday, Ken Haddock Friday then over for the football Sunday. Staff saying they had a massive turnout for the rugby on Saturday. Now a comedy club to look forward to. Have to organise a bit more via busses to get in from a bit further away but definitely worth the trip.”
