βIn terms of Mexican food, always loved the B word in Belfast, though always thought I could have made it at home. And that's the main difference at No. 1. It just tastes different. The combination of (3) tacos...chicken, pork and halloumi, every bite, every chew, and every taste was different. Texture perfect. The beef wrap, huge, every bite offered something different, I don't have the vocabulary to describe the flavours. And the chips with guacamole, not a 99p pack of pre made nachos.. Everything made fresh and tastes fresh. Can't describe my excitement at finding this place in Belfast. The guy serving us was really dead on too. Actually can't wait to try more. No. 1, a fitting name.β
βWow this was a stunning restaurant within the Merchant hotel (where we were staying for two nights). Got a reservation easily on a Saturday night. Fillet steak medium was amazing, with a side of garlic potatoes. Great experience with the tableside Irish Coffee too. I recommend!β
βWhat a really good place for a bite to eat. Lovely seating, excellent food and the staff were very good too. I had the lamb stew and it was excellent. Portions are big Highly recommendβ
βMassive store with great range of items including bathroom, lighting etc. Outdoor garden centre, not as many plants at the minute and many would benefit from watering. Lots of carparking outside.β

βThe food is incredibleβtruly a taste of home. This is the go-to spot if youβre craving Filipino cuisine. The ambiance reflects Filipino culture beautifully, and the staff are warm, friendly, and very accommodating. The sinigang especially brings back the feeling of home.β
βExpensive and a bit hit & miss with the courses. Sometimes the overwrought, complex nature of the dishes worked, and sometimes it didn't. (I do understand that you could argue that the complexity is the whole point.) So as an example one of my favourite dishes was the Venison Carpaccio, and it was perfect just how it was. But do you remember that horrible Kellogg's breakfast cereal "Special K" that people pretending to be on diets would punish themselves with? They'd inexplicably added homemade "Special K", a bit of moss, plum chutney, beetroot, and various bits of flower petals, and it felt unnecessary. However on the other side of that, they'd done God only knows what to the trout, and that was an absolute joy. And so it went on... 7 courses later and over Β£300 down for two people I would still recommend this as an experience, as something interesting and different. Also I must give a special mention to the Barman and the other staff, who were all fantastic. And they all seemed weirdly happy, which was a refreshing change for the mid-20s.β
βWent to the wee bistro today without a reservation as I was only in the area for work last night and wanted some food before heading off. The staff were friendly and we're so incredibly in-control despite how busy it was. The music was good, loud but not too loud or overbearing. All the food was seasoned and tasted fresh. All portions were big and price was reasonable. Would 100% come back againβ
βWe have to go here every time we go to Belfast. We always get the Sunday roast and usually desert the portions are just right. The food is of a high quality. Top tip get the beef itβs perfection.β
βThe Sunflower Public House is a distinctive and much-loved pub located on Union Street, just behind Belfast Central Library and near the University of Ulster. It's known for its authentic character and a slightly alternative vibe, standing out from more commercial establishments. One of its most recognizable features is the security cage on its front door, a relic from 1980s Belfast that has been intentionally preserved as part of the city's social history, now serving as a unique talking point and a symbol of resilience. Music is central to the Sunflower's identity. It regularly hosts traditional, Appalachian, and Gypsy Swing sessions, as well as folk and bluegrass. The pub prides itself on offering a wide selection of craft beers, including local Northern Irish brews. The Sunflower is widely known as a very dog-friendly pub, welcoming well-behaved dogs both inside and in its beer garden, often providing water bowls and treats. This has made it a favorite among dog owners. The Sunflower Public House is considered a "back to basics" pub, free of gimmicks, and celebrated for its genuine character, excellent music scene, good beer selection, and welcoming atmosphere, making it a highly recommended spot for those seeking an authentic Belfast pub experience.β
βWe stopped off here on the way from Belfast to Derry after being recommended to go here by friends and by god were we glad we did! Our warm welcome from our very attentive waitress to having our drinks on our table within minutes and allowing the perfect amount of time for us to be ready to order. The kids menu for our 4 and 6 year old was great, they loved being able to choose a starter, main and dessert and having the fruit skewer as a choice is super healthy and great to see (i have added menu to pics). Our food was absolutely beautiful and nothing was left on our plates, perfect portions, perfectly cooked and presented and top class and friendly service from the staff. This will definitely be our go to place for trips to Belfast in future (just 2 mile from roundabout at Magherafelt (Derry to Belfast route) really couldn't recommend here any higher. Full marks!β
βGuinness & Steak Pie with champ. What's not to like? Extremely friendly and welcoming bar lady. Spotlessly clean. Cracking prices.β
βMediterranean dinner at Chef and Manager in Newtownards near Belfast. It is one of those places that do not exist on IG, yet known to locals and is always fully packed. We were so lucky to have got recommended it and to actually manage to get a table on a Friday! The food was exquisite, the flavours, the presentation, the staff, everything was done with extra care. One of those places when you feel the owners take it upon themselves to ensure you enjoy every detail. . What you see here is duck breast, so tender! Laid on some veggies, and a selection of sauces. Each of them takes you on a different journey. Second main was a rack of lamb (mint crusted), it had a charcoal flavour and the taste was complemented by Mediterranean veggies. Both dishes came with potato gratin. . For starters, we had beans soup and goat cheese fritters with beetroot and bread. I was so tempted to go there again during out short visitβ
βMonday night early bird special - extra special! What fabulous food and such friendly service. Eaten here twice and both times were excellent Thank you very muchβ
βWhat a little hidden gem this is! The menu is a lovely mix of the usual breakfast/lunch cafe options, along with some gorgeous Asian influences like ramen & Korean BBQ chicken. Iβd highly recommend the omelettes from here, they are delicious! The staff have always been nothing but gracious & polite, itβs a really lovely little spot for a delicious breakfast or lunch.β
βWe got the large breakfast fry here at Hedleys Restaurant and it was so delicious! The staff were so kind and welcoming, would definitely come back next time Iβm in Belfast :)β
βAbsolutely fantastic food, brilliantly unique classic tapas. Plenty you'd not see anywhere else. Service was very good. Vick was a gentleman, he put in a lot of effort. Overall couldn't fault the experience in anyway. 6 dishes, 2 drinks, a dessert, tea and coffee came to Β£103.β

βAbsolutely amazing establishment, second to none. We had potato bread stack, outstanding, food was hot, very tasty and well presented and arrived really quickly. Louise is the star of the show and makes it worthwhile coming to Kings Road. Ruth is an amazing barista and made a speciality coffee not on the menu. I can't fault anything about here, will definitely be back soonβ
βHad a lovely midweek meal here. The set menu is great value and we loved having the chef put on such a great show. Food was fantastic and we even had enough left overs for the following evening. The staff made us feel so welcome. Highly recommend.β
