“Had lunch here with some friends. Large popular pub and not ruined by a makeover. The food was very good and reasonably priced. They have special offers depending on the day of the week. The Harvey's beer was in good condition. It was a Tuesday and fairly quiet. I understand it gets busy in the evenings and at weekends. There is a large outdoor seating area if you like that sort of thing. Will definitely go back when next in Lewes.”

“Feels like a proper English country inn, with great atmosphere and friendly staff. There's a function room to hire (I was there for a party) and the buffet was great. I'd be tempted to go try the rooms and the main restaurant sometime.”

“Really lovely place to stay. Staff are so wonderful and friendly. We stayed in the bell tent which is very large and spacious and well maintained. There’s plenty of space for children to run around outside and explore. Indoors there’s also a large lounge and quiet room as well as a well stocked kitchen. Breakfast was plentiful and really tasty. The train is a 3 minute walk away and takes 10 mins to the seafront (although they is only 1 train an hour so time it well). There are also lots of lovely walks straight from the YHA.”

“We stopped off for food at Sunday lunchtime and I cannot recommend the roast dinner enough! One of the best I have ever had . They catered to my dietary requirements (gluten free) and served delicious food . The service was wonderful and staff was very friendly . I would come back again”

The staff were brilliant, proactive and quick to response, helping me from the very start with all the logistics and organising. On the day, they styled the room beautifully, service was fantastic and food was amazing. Really tasty seasonal ingredients and great value. All of my guests were so impressed. “We went to their Open Garden yesterday. It was delightful: fantastic 250yr old walled garden, delicious tea, herbaceous borders. There were bunches of flowers, Swiss chard, green beans, courgettes and their own honey for sale. And everyone was very welcoming. Thank you”
