I’ve been plagued by intermittent EML / “start-stop” issues for the past few weeks with my diesel Golf, but after only 4 hours in the workshop all my woes were gone. The car was up on the ramp, the subframe was dropped to get the DPF out, which was then cleaned out VERY well on the bench, put back in, EGR electronically closed (showing as being in the 100% closed position on the live OBD data), and the car has been remapped to a very healthy figure. It now pulls like a train, has no warning lights at all, and it’s running much sweeter! I can’t believe how much more spritely the car is to drive, but also how much more economical it is too!
