βI love this nursery! Itβs small and very friendly. The staff are lovely and know the children very well. They do some lovely activities and always let me know what my child has been doing during the day.β
βStayed here for going to a gig in town, clean and comfortable, a short walk or taxi ride to the centre of Derby... staff are lovely, plenty of free parking and a buffet breakfast for Β£10.75... the scrambled eggs were really good, a good choice of hot and cold food plus there's a bar and the restaurant serves other dishes all day.β
βWe had an wonderful stay. The rooms were nice and clean and made up in time for our early check in. Emma was very attentive and very friendly made us feel very welcomed and really appreciate all the help she provided. There was a lot of us and she went out her way to make our stay wonderful! I think the lady who cleaned our rooms was Nina and she was so friendly too the rooms were clean couldn't fault anything. Thank you to you both. Look forward staying again in the futureβ
βVery nice people. My little one had best experience in first nursery. Highly recommended. Thanks for all your effort.β
βUnderstanding volunteers. Kind and warm staff who put littles needs firstβ
βBoth my girls have really enjoyed themselves and they have done some great activities this summer even a bit of educational fun dropped in too. Itβs great to have the board about-side telling the parents what the children have been doing during the day. The staff all seem so passionate about what they do which is great to see!β
βThis was the first class I came to when my daughter was a mere 5 weeks old and Iβm still coming every week even though sheβs nearly 14 months because she loves it so much! Emily is such a wonderful host, she was so welcoming to us both on my first day and couldnβt do more to help me as I couldnβt sit on the floor post birth. And the cuppa, biccie and natter at the end with the other parents in a safe space, where the babies can play was just the best respite after spending so much time alone all week! Her classes are really fun and a great way to not only meet other parents (Iβve made some great friends here) but also to teach your baby how to sign. My daughter has just started communicating with signs and itβs honestly the most wonderful thing to be able to understand her needs. If youβre looking for a fun and friendly singing and signing class, this is definitely the place to be!β

βMy children have been attending Thornhill for over a year now and I honestly canβt talk highly enough of the setting. The nursery is a clean, open and airy setting with an incredible outside area and well laid out rooms containing perfect age appropriate toys catering to both the youngest and the oldest of the rooms. The beautiful setting aside, the staff at thornhill are truly what makes it. I was incredibly anxious to start my children at nurseryβ¦ it takes me a while to warm to new settings especially trusting them with my children and honestly? I was sold the moment I had spoken to the angels as I now call them (because seriously, anyone who can make my oldest try new food and my youngest sleep is an angel). Every single member of staff is lovely, they have no issues answering any questions you may have and the love they have for your children shows when they greet them in the morning. Both my children are polar opposites so I feel itβs important to pass comment that they cater to every childβs needs. Olivia, the nursery manager is truly incredible. I have sought her advice a lot in the past 6 months and sheβs always given me honest advice and opinions which is so valued because of her years of expertise. As a parent, I donβt know everything and itβs nice to get outside input from someone who has plenty of experience with all kinds of children!β
βJellybeans has been amazing with my son and my daughter. They have always had a brilliant time, arriving with smiling and coming home full of beans! The staff are just lovely, always there for a chat. Jellybeans has made it much easier with working life, knowing that my children are cared for, loved and all the time learning something new through fun play, makes me one happy mommy.β
βThe team here are truly amazing. They have made the whole process so easy and will take out as much time as you need to discuss any worries you might have. I love the feedback at the end of the day and look forward to hearing about everything he has done. All the girls are so kind and really care about all the children and my son loves talking about all of the ladybird staff when we are home. Their menu is great and it has made it a little easier at home with trying things he didn't always like to eat.β
βWent to the baby grow group for the first time yesterday. It's so nice talking to other parents and there is great advice you can grab from the staff. Would definitely recommend lβ

βOne of the hardest times ive faced as a perent was going back to work for the first time after having my children (Stanley and Margot) they light up my life and in all honesty like many mums I'd rather be with them than at work but needs must. We chose to send (Stanley first) to Whitehouse two years ago after a recommendation from a friend and I now consider them part of our life's. We talk about their staff around our dinner table like friends... They are incredible with the kids and do everything with kindness, joy and fun in mind. They share ideas with me that I can try at home and if I'm struggling with any type of behaviour or sleep issues, they guve me advise and ideas to try and help. Nothing is to much trouble and I'm very lucky to hand by children over to people who care amd have their best interests at heart. I believe in giving children experiences to enrich their life's and offer variety and Whitehouse enhances that every week with my children. A big warm hearted thank you from me xβ
βMy son has been at this nursery for a year and a half and loves it so much. Staff are so lovely and friendly.β
βAbsolutely wonderful place, my mum enjoys it so much. Really great value for money, they provide a high standard of care, are friendly, approachable and so accommodating. Fabulous management with great communication. I'm so glad I found this place, its given mum a new lease of life and something wonderful to look forward too each week.β
βA wonderful community Nursery. Our daughter started at Sunny days at 10 months and settled instantly. The care and attention from the team in every unit from babies up to Pre-School has been first class. We couldnβt be more pleased with our daughterβs progression in the learning and all round confidence. 100% recommend!β

βGood nursery, very helpful and supportive management staff.β
βOur daughter attended Shardlow Hall day nursery for 2.5 years and I cannot fault the care she has had there. Sheβs come on so much with her language and social skills, and made some great friendships. Thereβs so many good points about the nursery, but one thing that stood out for me is the outdoor space. The nursery backs onto farmers fields, so the children can look at the cows and tractor, thereβs a fenced grassed back garden for summer, a tarmac all weather playground area, and also a forest school area. There are horses, chickens and ducks nearby. The nursery have visitors coming in to teach Spanish and do dance classes, and groups who bring animals in for the children to meet. If nature and the outdoors are important factors for you when choosing a nursery, I donβt think you can beat Shardlow.β
