“Lovely garden centre with a gigantic range of home and gardenwares, and the flowers are always beautifully arranged and affordable. The cafe isn't anything to rave about, but the shop itself has absolutely everything a gardener could dream of, from tools to flowers, bulbs, seeds, decorative wares and furniture. The grounds surrounding the garden centre are equally as lovely and well worth walking round in good weather, plus or minus a fluffy friend (dogs are very welcomed in both!)”

“We have used Fairlie Handyman and Gardening Services on a couple of occasions, the most recent being last month when we had a variety of small but annoying issues around the house which needed attention. The most difficult being a bath tap which wasn’t working due to an issue that wasn’t the tap itself. As the bath is built in and tiled, it meant the removal of tiles to get to the pipe work behind the bath. I didn’t realistically expect it would be possible to do without breaking some tiles but Phil removed all the necessary tiles, fixed the fault, fixed pipe work and the taps far more securely than they were originally, and replaced, re-grouted and sealed the tiles to look better than they did originally! Other difficult jobs were completed with equal skill and patience. Phil is very pleasant to discuss jobs with and also reasonably priced. I have already discussed with him further works to be carried out outside when weather allows. Thoroughly recommend.”

“I came across Dave, and EK Maintenance almost by accident having seen his van driving around in EK, soon after I had moved here from down south. He quoted me to perform several construction and maintenance jobs on our new home, including, re-varnishing hardwood windows, rendering and repairs to two external walls, construction of a new level driveway/parking area, improvements to the yard drainage and garden layout, Decking construction, and hopefully (later in the year) fitting of a new kitchen. In the past I have done a little bit of property refurbishment and development, so I am fairly well aware of how this sort of work should be tackled and roughly what the cost should be. The quotes I have had from EK Maintenance have all been very reasonable, and the work has been carried out to a consistently high standard. I have found Dave to be friendly approachable and most of all highly reliable. He does exactly what he says he will do, when he says he will do it, and whilst there are always going to be a few minor snags on a project of this size, nothing has ever defeated him. The work has always reached a satisfactory conclusion, without costing a fortune. I can highly recommend EK maintenance, and will continue to use them whenever I have work of a size and complexity that I cannot tackle myself. “A big shout out and huge 'thank you' to the folks at The Paintworks Bodyshop! I left my classic 1978 Mercedes with them for a full re-spray and couldn't be happier with the result. After having been badly burned by another paint shop who did a lousy and over-priced (partial) re-spray on the car, I was very anxious to pick the right people for this big project. I knew that a lot could go awry in the wrong hands. I was looking for someone who had experience in carefully removing and re-assembling lots of chrome and moulding trim without damaging irreplaceable parts, thoroughly sanding down the old paint, treating and repairing potential surface corrosion, and doing an immaculate paint job with a smooth, and even finish (no orange peel effect, etc.). I scouted many paint shops for weeks but finally entrusted my car to Danny and his crew. During this process they were incredibly patient, answering my sheer endless questions and producing test card after test card in the quest for the optimal colour match for this tricky 1970s citrus-green metallic colour. They seemed very competent, had great reviews and gave me a very competitive quote, so I went with them. The day I left my car with them, the shop owner, Jaffer, noticing my slightly worried face, told me that the car was in safe hands and that he would personally make sure that the car would be treated with the greatest care. “Don’t have sleepless nights over this. I will have them for you”, he quipped. And he and his team delivered! Derek did a marvellous job in carefully stripping the car and putting it back together. Danny—a true artist with the paint gun—did such an immaculate, smooth paint job, I couldn’t believe my eyes. It’s clear that no corners were cut, attention to detail was paramount, and everyone who laid hands on the car executed their job with great competence and pride. The same is true for Jaffer and Joanna (who keeps the office a smoothly running machine) who kept me up-to-date about the progress made. I am German. And if you heard stereotypes that Germans are hard-to-please sticklers for details; well, they are mostly true. I was looking for perfection, and got it. I cannot recommend these guys enough! P.S.: The photo doesn't really do it justice. I had to quickly cover up the car given the wintery weather, so just a quick snapshot.”
