Their many years of experience really shine through: they offered unbiased advice, explained various options and gave me their professional opinion, which turned out to be absolutely correct. I have long-standing back problems, but after several months of sleepless nights and wrong mattress purchases I finally received the best advice and found the right mattress. The delivery was punctual and to the actual bedroom, despite it being upstairs. The mattress recommended by Mark and Laura was life-changing for me, and within a couple of nights I was practically pain-free. Moreover, prices are extremely affordable for what are clearly very good quality items. The latter of which was subject to very specific width, depth and height requirements which were easily accommodated. Steve is clearly passionate about his work and this shows through in the finished item. Both items I purchased were built with high quality materials, attention to detail and importantly a sense of uniqueness. Do not assume this comes at a price. It doesn’t! I have been pleasantly surprised at the cost on both occasions and I cannot imagine going anywhere else in the future.”

“The Mute Swan, by the river and opposite Hampton Court Palace. A thoroughly delightful place with a good range of both cask and keg beers. A fine wine list and an exciting menu. Service is impeccable and my lager was fresh and cold. The place has a spiral staircase leading to the upstairs restaurant area, we love a spiral staircase! A super place for a spring (in your step) drink.”

We started our London trip at this place and I could see us going back at some point. If you do go, my family pretty much all tried a variation of the Full English. Amazing drinks on tap, especially the Guinness, and great outdoor seating area especially in the summer. They show some sports on the screens in there. “Walked into this gaff not knowing what to expect and ended up thinking I’d stumbled into one of them proper boozers we all used to haunt before everyone got obsessed with artisan lager and reclaimed wood tables. This place is the real deal. Big, roomy, clean as a whistle and full of the sort of decent people who look like they know how to enjoy themselves without turning the whole place into a circus. I drifted in quiet as a ghost, keeping myself to myself, the way a man does when he just wants a peaceful pint without getting dragged into a three-hour chat about football transfers. Early afternoon, hardly a soul about. Even the barman gave me that look you give a fella you’re not entirely sure walked in through the door or just materialised beside the pumps. Perfect. Just how I like it. Once you take it all in, you realise the place has that old-school charm you can’t build from scratch. It feels like the sort of joint where blokes in the early 90s would crowd round the fruit machine, give each other dodgy betting tips and swear blind they were going home after “one more”. There’s space everywhere you turn. No shoulder-barging. No squeezing past people like you're on the Tube at rush hour. Just room to sit, think, sip and breathe. The beer garden is a treat as well. Plenty of spots for whatever mood you’re in. Out with mates, catching up over a round? Sorted. Want somewhere quiet to park yourself and stare meaningfully into your pint like you’re the troubled side character in a gritty ITV drama? Also sorted. Hayes did not disappoint on that front. First time visiting Hayes and if this is the standard of their pubs then I must have been living under a rock. I’ll be back, pint in hand, probably still lurking in that same quiet corner wondering where this place has been all my life.”
