“Absolutely amazing food. Seriously top notch service and the food was out of this world. They don’t have an alcohol license but you can take your own drink in without a corkage charge so it works out to be so much cheaper than an ordinary restaurant. The seafood at this place is honestly second to none. Love it love it”

The staff are so friendly with a real family vibe, and having lived in the area all my life I would say this restaurant has never lost its quality and a real asset to our community ! “What an absolutely incredible experience I had finding this random gem in Orpington when out with my mum on May 3rd bank holiday. This was before restrictions were lifted so we were seated outside but given blankets to wrap up in, and had the most amazing service from our waitress Karina! She was so attentive and just a star!! It was soooo windy but that didn’t dampen our experience whatsoever. We each had a managal combo plate (spicy chicken and lamb chops which were humongous) with bulgur wheat, spicy rice, and 2 types of salad. The home made bread was lush. Cooked to perfection and even given mint tea and baklava on the house after! Couldn’t recommend this place more and thank you Ozzy for stopping to chat with us after! And Karina for being such a genuine sweetheart when catering to us. Can’t wait to come back for my mums birthday, delicious food, fantastic prices, and fabulous staff!”

“Name checks out - great dinner option and highly recommended. Visiting from Australia where the kebabs can be quite homogenised/samey in the city. Was blown away with the mixed doner and halloumi kebabs. Serving size, flavour, freshness, and choices of salads all top tier. Even the chips were good!”

The young Italian “Bossman” and myself talk in Italian and his passion and love for his venue is obvious to see. I bought a Summer home in Inverigo (a province of Comi about 20 miles North of Milan in 2005) and our Family try to go on vacation there every year. Highly recommend Primo Caffe without a doubt it is the BEST COFFEE and serves a beautiful selection of Authentic Italian food, in Orpington. Caveat : it can get SUPER BUSY (which is a good sign of an excellent venue). Ciao”

“I was already a big fan of this restaurant - the tapas is excellent - and was interested to try their Sunday roast. I went on the first day of this new menu and, quite simply, LOVED it! There were a few nibble type starters available - olives, padron peppers, almonds, bread. We had the sourdough bread - this came toasted with an alioli sauce - very tasty! The main course choices were beef, chicken, lamb cutlets or a vegan wellington. We had the chicken and lamb - both were served with roast potatoes, roasted carrots, parsnips, broccoli, yorkshire pudding and gravy. All superbly seasoned and delicious! Good portion size too. We didn’t have desserts, but saw others tucking into cheesecake and churros. Next time! The staff were fantastically welcoming as always! Laura, kept saying words to the effect of “It’s our first day doing this…” - no need to justify anything Laura, you’ve already aced this! Pricing is well pitched - £19 - £21 per person for main course, depending on your choice of meat. Well done Laura, Danny and, of course, the brilliant Spanish chef, Freddy! Already booked to go back next week!”

“My friends & I went to this superb restaurant for lunch today. I have been here on numerous occasions. It never dissappoints! . My friends loved it. VIV’s new favourite. I had mussels and skate for main. Vegetables cooked to perfection. I could go on and on how good this restaurant is. Looking forward to coming back soon. 5⭐️+”

“Had a Birthday dinner few days ago and can only thank for a brilliant service and food.Haven't been there for few years and surprised the restaurant kept the same good quality of food, and service, maybe even better. Didn’t make any pictures this time but everyone was very happy with they food.I don't know any other peoples names working there but they all were very good and polite . It's very good vines available in restaurant.The man name Paul was serving our table ,he he was listening very carefully what vine I like and he recommended very good vine 10 of 10,just perfect.Well done to all stuff,very nice and cosy atmosphere there,big Well done to the chefs. The only thing I want say is not a complaints I didn't ask when we start ordering the food,but it will be nice if customers can be asked about the allergies before ordering food. “Here, just in the centre of the village of Downe, we have the most lovely country pub you can imagine, with a good range of real ales, an amazing garden out back with several different areas, a delicious and affordable food menu, and just a short walk away from Charles Darwin's house. What more could you want. It's situated right next door to the village church, which is where the hourly TfL bus 146 from Bromley terminates, and the R8 also calls. Definitely worthy of a visit in itself.”

“Was welcomed promptly and taken to our seats even though we had no reservations (recommended on weekends). Food was of high quality and served promptly. The service was warm and welcoming and we were treated to live instrumental and vocal music and belly dancing on the Saturday we went. We loved the experience and this is definitely on our list of 'visit again' restaurants.”

“Wow! Amazed today coming into the five bells It’s been taken over by new owners and they are absolutely lovely! Me and my partner got the bells beef burger each with bacon and cheese bacon was perfectly crispy burger was lovely! Was sooo nice. And we got onion rings too honestly amazing food and such a lovely family pub. Have play slides for the kids a huge garden nicely decorated. Such a warm feeling when walking in we have now booked in for a Sunday roast. And can’t wait to try it, also the house wine is divine and got price! This will now be our ongoing local. X”

“This little gem was an amazing find Hosted a Baby Shower here on Saturday and cannot express how accommodating The staff were. Dan was very flexible and encouraged us to decorate, provide a playlist that he played through the function room sound system, he allowed us to go in early before the booking to decorate too. There is plenty room for a sit down occasion or a full disco/dj party. A back door leads out to the garden and a separate area too. The room has plenty of sockets and a bar, buffet food is an option too. Had an amazing time and everyone complimented on the venue and how quaint, country-feel yet quirky it was. Perfect, Thank you !”

“Visited for the first time this week for a birthday celebration. Booked a table through Google, easy and convenient. The mezes we had were really good, everyone enjoyed them. Almost all of them came with pitta bread. When it came to mains I had veggie spaghetti and was pretty blant, mostly consisting mashrooms and not very tasty ones, would not recommend. My other half had grill and he enjoyed it. My girls had plain spaghetti and soup of the day- tomato soup. Service was attentive and friendly. Didn't have dessert as cake was waiting at home. Atmosphere was very nice and welcoming.”

“Wanted a Sunday curry, and went to Little India and came out very very happy. The staff were exceptional and extremely friendly, and best of all the curries (lamb, chicken, prawn and daal is what we got) were flawless. Could not fault the restaurant if I tried, and will defiantly be back.”

“They are BACK! The team at Simla Balti make easily the best curry I’ve ever come across in the South East and I’m so glad they have reopened after over 3 months closure. The food is delicious, always piping hot and consistently amazing. They will customise all your favourites just how you want them, little bit hotter or not, sauce from one with chicken from another dish etc. Great prices and really friendly staff.
