“We had a take away from this shop and wow! Large cod is super large! Large portion of chips was two big bowls of chips! First time in my experience chips from fish and chips shop was nice and crispy. I was shocked because I like it so much! Fish was also very nice, tasty and crispy. Definitely 10/10! The only less positive was the mashed pea because didn't have any flavour, was very watery and portion was expensive £2.5. C”

“With a background in kaiseki, Chef Yasu’s cooking always carries a strong sense of seasonality. This visit, set at the turn of summer to autumn, saw two styles of plating shift from vivid colours to the muted tones of fallen leaves, wheat, chestnuts and early autumn earth. The restaurant focuses on ageing, and the highlights were unmistakably the scallop and squid. Although Japanese ingredients in China are far superior to London’s in general, the flavour developed from this ice-water ageing technique was surprisingly deep and expressive. “I seriously love my fish and chips and this was hands down the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life. Everything was completely made to order and boy was it worth the wait. The batter was so crispy but not greasy and the fish was so juicy and succulent in the middle. It was literally cooked to perfection. The chips were amazing too. Not to crispy and not to soggy. A perfect blend and you can tell they use really good potatoes. Really friendly service in lovely little area. Just a shame I don’t live closer as would be here every Friday! Highly recommend!!”

The food is absolutely delicious and, as other reviewers have said, it is priced fairly for what you get - the higher prices are definitely reflected in the quality! We got the house platter, prawns, scallops, bread and butter and chips, and a bottle of Kentish sparkling wine. Particular highlights were the chilli salted prawns (so delicious!!), house chips, scallops and oysters. The servers were very friendly and attentive in topping up our wine and checking we were ok. We sat outside which was lovely given the warmer weather (although you are quite close to the road and I’d love to experience the ambience inside next time!).”

“Not had fish and chips for years. Looked up where to go as my son requested a bday treat while keeping up his lent restrictions. Our meals were all very good, especially the size and batter on the fish. Was crispy, not wet or stodgy at all. The owner Sam was very friendly, welcoming and went out of his way to accommodate us. He even threw in extra chips and a really lovely fresh salad for free. My mum was fascinated by how clean the shop was too. Would definitely visit again and recommend to others.
