“Truly delicious and exciting food - highly recommend the pani puri and aloo firecracker. We went on a weekday so it was very quiet and a nice ambience. The manager was rude and abrasive to his staff in front of us which was disappointing, but hopefully a one-off.”

“Went in for breakfast, nice warm welcome from staff. Good choice of breakfast items and paninis. We ordered the nibbles and classic breakfasts and they didn't disappoint. Excellent quality and all cooked beautifully, really tasty. We loved the interior with the butchers counter and deli. Bought some items from the butcher who was so friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely return if in the area and would recommend.”

“Visited The black Lamb with two friends for a very over due catch up. Everything was delightful from the atmosphere, food and especially the service. Our waiter Rohan was so friendly and helped us decide what to order, which is hard as we are an indecisive bunch! We opted for the tasting menu which was absolutely divine and perfect portion sizes.”

“Authentic and truly delicious Indian food right here! The ambience is lovely, the staff are friendly, and the drinks are great — definitely try their cocktails. The special prawns and the different varieties of chicken tikka are a must-try; you’ll love them. They have loads of tasty curries and a good range of soft drinks too. We tried the mango lassi — it was superb! The kids really enjoyed the desserts, and the portion sizes for every dish were generous. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for genuine Indian flavours and a warm, welcoming atmosphere!”

“A pub I've been meaning to write up for a while but haven't been too sure on when to dive into it. It's a local community pub, one of the very few independent ones in the area, but one I barely frequent, and I've not really got a good reason as to why. The first trip I went here, it was a cold covidy afternoon, and I was relegated to the sea of sofas in the garden. Collected together, like the aftermath of a flood having ripped through the front rooms of an entire village, a mish mash of the comfiest seats a pub garden has ever seen. To get there you'd need to hop on through the pub, greeted by locals playing board games with a nod, a lone bloke chewing the ear off the bar staff about the complexities of the Marvel universe pausing only to let you order, or a live band in the corner on Thursday & Sundays. A beer fridge is well stocked, keg beers are your accessible macro gear, but most come for the ale. Expertly kept rotating cask selection; you'll typically find Oakham, Surrey Hills or a couple of obscurer local breweries. Invariably served with a sparkler. The pub itself dates back to the late 1800s, and even used to have a small brewery on site, but it's only since Liz and Adam took it over that it's become this beacon of light amongst a sea of Young's pubs. It won multiple CAMRA awards in the mid 2010s, and continues to champion quality ale. Food wise they've chopped and changed. BBQ burger nights, slow pulled meats and veggie options, cheese nights too, and on the weekend I went they had "Emma" (forgot the IG tag), churning out Middle Eastern dishes, orders coming in early doors on a Sunday. Bar snacks knocking about, but few pubs in the area offer their location up to pop-ups, so it's nice to see the variety. It's a cosy place, you'll not find another one like it really, and to get 2 (good) pints south of a tenner in these parts is worthy of praise alone. Having done almost double digit visits now, I've never had the same experience twice in terms of locals, beers, Rona rules and food, yet the vibe remains the same. Welcoming, hospitable and inviting - a pub fully deserving of all the praise the locals have bestowed upon it.”

    The Lamb

    ★★★★☆ 4.5

“Nestled in the literary veins of Bloomsbury, The Lamb is a Grade II listed pub that feels like a gentle nod to London’s quieter, more contemplative soul. It’s not flashy, not trying to be trendy—and that’s precisely its charm. Atmosphere Step inside and you’re greeted by etched glass panels, polished wood, and a timeless hush. There’s no blaring music, no screens—just the soft hum of conversation and the clink of pint glasses. It’s the kind of place where you can read a book, have a thoughtful chat, or simply sit with your thoughts and a well-poured ale. Food & Drink The menu leans traditional, but with care. The fish pie, for instance, isn’t rushed—it arrives piping hot, clearly made to order, and rich with comfort. Pair it with a pint of Young’s Special and you’ve got a meal that feels like a warm handshake. The cask ales are well-kept, and there’s a quiet pride in the selection. Service Staff are unobtrusive but attentive. You’re not fussed over, but you’re never forgotten. It’s the kind of service that respects your space while making sure your glass is never empty.”

“We have walked past here a few times and thought this place looks good. Tonight, we finally ate here. Come here hungry. I read the reviews, and everyone said, get the set menu. GET THE SET MENU! You can't go wrong with this. It has a bit of everything, and you will leave here very full. The house red wine is also very good, fruity and full-bodied. The staff are very friendly and attentive. They even said you would not need to order extra dishes with the set menu, and I am glad I did not.”

“A lovely restaurant with even lovelier food and staff! The manager and waiters were all friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. We got the Goats Cheese with salad as a starter which was delicious, for our mains we got the Baraka Special and the Yogortlu Kofte which were both flavourful and perfectly cooked, and finished with a Baklava for dessert. The atmosphere was great - the perfect place for a business lunch or a quiet date. Looking forward to my next visit!”

“A lovely shop! They stock designers you won’t find elsewhere and a gorgeous array of clothes. Whenever I visit I end up finding something I love! Always greeted with a smile by the sales assistants too. Their refund policy is clearly printed at the till and hard to miss (but you can always ask if unsure). I’m glad to see a shop selling independent brands is still going strong, when so many others have been replaced.”

    Little Lambs Pre School

“Little Lambs Preschool has been an absolutely wonderful part of our family’s life, and it’s with very mixed emotions that we’ve had to say goodbye. Both of our children attended Little Lambs — our daughter until she moved on to reception in September, and our son for the past 18 months — and we truly couldn’t have asked for a better start to their early years. The staff at Little Lambs are truly exceptional. Sharon, Vicky, Rochelle, Dafina, Bruna, Halima, Victoria and Hannah are all incredibly caring, nurturing, and professional, and it’s clear how much they genuinely love and value the children in their care. Every child is treated as an individual, and the warm, family-like atmosphere they create makes Little Lambs a place where children feel safe, happy, and confident. The team work so beautifully together and support one another, which really does make the preschool feel like one big family. Communication with parents has always been excellent, and we’ve been consistently impressed by the care, patience, and thought that goes into supporting each child’s development and wellbeing. Leaving Little Lambs was incredibly sad for us. If it had been possible to manage the daily commute, we would have stayed without hesitation, but unfortunately it just wasn’t feasible logistically. We will always be so grateful for the love, care, and strong foundations that the ladies have given both of our children. We cannot recommend Little Lambs Preschool highly enough — it is a truly special place, and any child would be very lucky to be part of it.”
